Spent two hours in the field looking for anything to give me an idea where the older school might have been. Loads of can slaw, bullets, and shell casings later I decided to take a break and get some lunch. I did find some modern items though. The Manticore is doing really well.
Part of a Sampson bicycle tire plug.
Not sure...
Clad quarter and dime...
After a lunch break, I continued to search slow through the iron at the 1850's school yard. First was a bucket lister, a 1902 "V" nickel! A 25 on the Manticore. Holy cow, I thought I'd never find one of these.
Next hit was both sides of a Scovill snap. I didn't know Scovill made these.
Several Nails and a drive shaft yoke later, I had a 45-50 on the Manticore. Turned out to be another Indian Head Penny, my second from the site. Ok, so this is where I need the help. My wife sees 1886. My son sees 1865 or 66. Depending on the way I look at the date I can see 1886, 1865, or 1866. Looking at the microscope view looks like 1866. Can't see the third digit being an 8. Either way, I actually get back into the 1800's at this site. I really didn't think that would happen. I've supplied several pics.
Please let me know what you all see.
Thanks...
