Got out with a friend for a road trip in CA. We hit some spots we are researching: Old traveller stops, ghost-townsy type sites. One particular spot turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We got 2 seated half dimes ('59 and '60) an '84s seated dime, an 1849 Mexican half reale, a 1906 IH, and ....... my 13th gold coin: An 1829 British Gold Sovereign. It's about the size of a US $5 gold piece.

Fantastic Finds! Beautiful gold coin. In the one picture of the different relics is that a picture of a clock winder? It is on the left hand side like the 3rd thing over and down. Let me know. I had found one of them and I think that is what it is. But don't know what kind of clock it would have wound.

goldirocks, yes that's what I think it is.

Hey Tom, that is some impresive research and hunting.

Congrats on the Banner.

Tom,
Congrats on number 13 and the banner.

If you still have all 13 I would love to see a picture of them all together...fronts and backs.
Thanks

NJ

That 1/2 reale might be fairly rare. If it is a Culiacan mint one, it has no listed value (usually for the rare coins) in the Krause book. You should look up the different mintmarks on 1/2 reales.
Congrats on Gold #13 and the well deserved banner!
gotta say thats some nice silver too,
not too familiar with the Mexican, does that depict a liberty cap within the rays?
Continued success to you
