I haven't posted here in awhile but I had to share this find. I finally found my first 1700's US silver coin and it's all I could have ever hoped for and more. It's a 1796 Draped Bust Dime JR-6 variety with visible die crack through the date. I found it yesterday, about 4-5" down at the edge of a corn field. As soon as I saw it I knew I had something special.

oh man, that's awesome. congrats!

Congrats on an fantastic coin recovery. You don't see early US silver very often. Is that a die break on the obverse side of the coin on the date? If so, is that of particular interest to a someone who specializes in that series? Awesome! :hello2:

Thanks! Yes it's JR-6 variety, they have multiple die cracks with the most noticeable being the crack across the date.

Banner coin. I've been thinking about it. Nice clear pictures and most certainly a genuine solid piece of early American silver. I'm submitting a banner vote

Thanks everyone for all the comments and Banner votes I really appreciate the support and recognition.

Little worn, a little beat, but it's priceless finds in the eyes of who dig dirt. Congrats on the beauty, it really deserves the recognition for being such an early silver.

Congratulations. This was a no doubter for me. Seeing that in the hole would be a knee bender.

What a great find. Never found one but watched a buddy dig one. Maybe someday.
