This morning I got out detecting at 8:30 in 30 degree weather and stayed out until 3:30. It went just above freezing by lunch time. At least the winds of the past week have abated. No snow but about an inch of icy topsoil. My predator medium shovel went right through it. The cold doesn't bother me at all. My Muck Artic Pro boots keep me toasty.
I was happy to score my third-ever CT copper. From my 1830's map and the presence of a tiny one-family cemetery, I know the colonials farmed and lived here. It was a small farm. It's tough to find anything here. Only less than 10 buttons. They must have recycled their nails. So finding a state copper rather than a KGII is a real treat, no matter how corroded. It's my fifth 1700's coin from this farm site. I know I will keep passing over it from time to time.
