Finds (5-17-13) 14th silver coin for 2013: 1937 Mercury Dime (seems there is one in every yard!), 2 Indians (1905, 1907) and some Wheat's(1916,1926,1941). Also got reacquainted with the worst junk target, even worse than pull-tabs and screw-caps.
The random sized aluminum siding leftover...
The place I started to metal detect Saturday but then got rained out from has no one occupying it now(all the students are leaving at this time of year), so couldn't ask for permission to look again. Knocked on 11 other doors on and around 2nd & Fess (here in Bloomington IN)trying to find a...

So after using my pinpointer (purchased new) for about 2 months it's starting to malfunction. I have used it heavily but not misused or abused it. It says it can be placed under running water but not submerged (I have never submerged it but have rinsed it quickly) and I have had a piece of...
Not having much luck with the yards lately even with the Etrac. I received permission a while back to hunt 15 properties all of which have houses built from between 1870 and 1920. Hit first house/property and took two days of searching to pull 2 Indian head cents (1899 &1891) and 3 wheat cents...
I finally got so tired of not finding anything with the Procoil on my Etrac that I started getting superstitious and sold it. Every good item I have found has been with the SEF 6x8. SO...I bought it's big brother the 10x12. Any tips...? Hope this pinpoints almost as well as the smaller coil...
I called and got permission about an hour ago. Looks like it will be a clear day in the high 50's partly sunny. I hunted a worked out park yesterday with nothing good found so wish me luck today. The owner said someone hunted it 2 months ago but it's a huge area so there may be something left...
Heavy duty: fits all mentioned above. Easy access: rotate towards you and slide out after kneeling to ground. Mount stays at that angle until you slide or pop pinpointer back in, then just rotate back into straight position and continue detecting. Shown mounted on Etrac square upper shaft and...
Better coin finds from yard I've been hunting with my Minelab Etrac. I put the nicer coins together for a pic, not shown are the several wheat cents I found. I've decided this is the best yard I've ever hunted for the amount of time spent searching it. This is the first area I have ever used the...

3 SILVER coins from my 5th ETRAC hunt in the yard I've been hunting off and on when we have warm weather: 1942 and 45 Mercury dimes and 1942 Washington quarter. Thanks Minelab Profind 25 for having a light so I could see the quarter in the hole in the dark! This makes a total of 5 silver coins...

I want one or the other. Have done a little research. Chime in and help me decide. Have heard Profind is better in air tests but not the ground. Like the vibrate or sound option on Profind.
Third time out with Etrac metal detector= Another First: 1935 Walking Liberty silver half dollar! 1918 and 1941 wheat pennies as well. Uncleaned. Yesterday found a Barber quarter:also a first of that type of coin. The half was first half of any type.
My first few short hunts of the year netted me
12 Wheat cents from 1914 through to the 1950's
2 Indians a 1901 and a 1902 both in fairly nice shape
1 1920 Mercury dime
1 1902 V Nickel
1 clad dime
a toy tractor
a piece of a ring
I'd say that with 16 of the 17 coins dug being keepers from a...
I was using my Excalibur II the other day with the volume turned up all the way due to back ground noise. I hit a large target and my headphones went crazy, now they sound like they're under water or something" very faint and distorted" has anyone else had this problem? Any easy ways to check...
Any tips on how to get the curly part of the coil cable through the super-tight carbon-fiber shaft for the E-trac? I have a 6x8 cable that just DOES NOT want to go through that tight opening at the bottom of the shaft...

Just picked this up today from another local MD'er who has quite a few other detectors to choose from! Tim, I'm sure you won't miss this one too much! Paid $825 which seems fair to me as I know they are becoming harder to come by and this one hasn't seen very heavy use. I came with all you...
I think I understand...but not exactly. I have been reading and re-reading,
"Finding Gold,Silver and Coins with the Minelab Sovereign and Excalibur metal detectors" by Clive James Clynick. I'd like to get in touch with him: I'd do some good illustrations/drawings for the book if there are going...
