Some back story:
So I am good friends with this guy whose grandfather was well known to be the largest gold merchant in all of Morocco. Story has it that upon hearing of the impending French invasion of Morocco (early 1900's), his grandfather went out into his estate and buried his entire store...
I am relatively new to this but using my Garret I cam across several large pieces of gray clay that you would mistake for any other rock until you smash it with a hammer. It does not easily dissolve in water ( I found them in a river) .I broke open several pieces and found , what I think, is a...
I have had a great couple of days! 2 gold rings. One small 10k w/2 very small diamonds and the big mama. It says 10k. It has over 15 small round diamonds (tester says they are real). Comes up on detector as gold/nickel. Will not attract magnet. it's weird though.....gold everywhere but...
Found this beauty in a freshwater lake. The ring was about six inches deep in the sand, in three foot of water.
I have had the AT gold for a little over a month and I am 3 silver rings, 1 stainless ring, 1 copper ring (Rose Gold?) and this beauty of a gold ring.
plus 6 silver dimes (4 Mercury...
Hi guys. I found this ring that I got years ago while moving house and I have no idea what it says. I tried writing out the inscription, which I have included with the photos below. The ring is goldish in colour but I'm assuming it's not actually gold. It is roughly 22mm across. I was thinking...
On July 12th, 2012... I made a substantial discovery, while looking for something else.

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for the help!! when I was a kid Me and My dad tracked all over NE Georgia looking for this one back in the 1970'S ,as far as I can tell no one has found it . The story goes like this back in the 1950'S a bus driver by the name Marvin Chambers picked up an old...

As everyone is in need of a hobby I just started a new one. I used to do a bit of mding but I had to stop. I got to good at finding junk and figured I would leave some for the next person, only fair. Now I am into gold prospecting with a focus on Vermont. I do some panning but my real...
Took a trip to the beach today to try and beat the 100 degree heat. Decided that since it was an afternoon low tide I'd stick to the water. Spent four hours in the surf from knee deep to neck deep. Found a nice golden ticket about an hour and a half after I arrived, in waist deep water...
Took me quite a few trips to the beach this year but I finally hit gold. I've spent 70+ hours on VA Beach searching for it, but today it couldn't elude me. Here's my first gold ring of the year. Hopefully many more to come...But I'm not holding my breath. 14K white & yellow gold and weighs...

Rumors of treasure in this area. Mine? Gold? Silver? Spanish? Jesuit? Coins? Bullion?
Of course I don't know where it is so I hope it is on this image. Need to start somewhere.
I moved to Pennsylvania about 8 years ago and just got back into detecting. I was going looking through some of the history here and found there use to be a 19th century prison in what is now a park as well as a bunch of old 1920's resorts on the top of one of the mountains. Who would I have to...
I can't believe how I missed this over the last years!
I returned to a pasture field which had already given me a few Roman coins, 2 Roman brooches and a Charles I shilling in the past. The farmer had ploughed, re-seeded it and it was now cut short again.
Concentrating on the area where the...

I've returned from an interesting trip to Northern California. Main reason for the trip was a visit with my grad student son in Arcata and also help him move into a new place. Ten days without TV or Internet can be very interesting. However it wasn't possible to ignore the Stanley Cup Finals...
Here is a vid about our search for gold in the local mountains. We pan for some gold and explore some old mines in the amazing mountains of British Columbia.
Have a watch.

The Placer mines of Siwash creek in the Fraser Canyon
I just happened to find a site that said they knew that the Iron Door Mine was in the Santa Catalina Mountains, Arizona. I also remembered a story told to me by an old acquaintance years ago. This person, mentioned in our article told us about quite a few different things he found in the desert...

I just went to their website to send them some gold and noticed on their FAQ section (Precious Metal Recovery And Refining FAQ) that they do not deal with the public? I sent them gold last year, was very happy with them, so I'm confused if this is something new. Has anybody dealt with them recently?
This is my first thread...!!! :hello2:

Sunday sluice trip made it out to a small creek while everyone else was at the mining summit in Placerville. Worked a couple buckets in one spot and wasent impressed with the results, so I moved down stream a bit to a spot with more bedrock. Did some testing and found a better patch...
This is from 12 buckets of material. As you see, the nug. on the right is extremely coarse. It is nice to get paid to excersise.HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Wanted to share with those who do not get to the gold section.
Thanks for checking.

Prescott is still being very generous. This is last weekends take. The one on the right is an unusually coarse chunk.
Thanks for taking a gander.

A few weeks ago I was metal detecting across the road from a well known local pizza restaurant called Big Eds. This restaurant opened in 1970 and hasn't changed in all those years. You step through those doors and its like stepping back in time. A street runs along one side of the building...
Just started getting into panning. Haven't really found anything. Anyone have any ideas where to go in northeast PA? Is there gold here? I know we have glacial deposits question is did they drop anything good here? Or is it just another thing we're not aloud to do here!!!!! Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, just curious... do you prospect in a river or a stream and/or tributary? I am brand new at this and it seems like the very small stream has yealded 2 specs of flour gold but when i go to the "gold rich" river I find nothing. Do you guys have any pics of where you would normally...
Hey there everyone, just a quick question. I have been sluicing and panning and digging up what seems like the whole river( and tributaries) that is supposed to be the best gold bearing river in northern california but to no avail...I know I have my sluice box setup properly and have tried many...
Hey guys just a question...attached is a video of my new sluice box, this is the very first time that i had ever used one and I set it up per the instructions but after a few 5 gallon buckets worth of material...no gold. The river Im in is one of the cleanest rivers in the us and is known for...
My First Gold Find (That Almost Wasn't)!!
About two weeks ago I found my first gold after 2.5 years of off and on MDing. I didn't realize it was gold because it broke several times while I was trying to get it out of the hole and I assumed it was just some cheap jewelry. Well, yesterday I...
hey guys, just another quick one. Say hypothetically I went panning and sluicing(30" sluice) and a really rich mineral river, every weekend for about 5 hours a day and each time you go out you get a few small flakes but the rest fine gold. How long do you think it would take to get 4 to 5 ounces...
hey guys, I just purchased a royal brand 30"x 7"wide sluice box and was curious if anyone else out there have ever used one and if so what are your thoughts on the quality and how much gold it traps if setup correctly...Thus far I have only been panning and have only seen a couply of really tiny...
