I live in a area that has a decent amount of dry washes with specks of gold in the wash. I am looking to purchase equipment that allows me to pan for the gold in the washes (I will be bringing my own water in large containers with my ATV). I found this lot of gold mining equipment on a...
Hey guys, I have a question. I have a royal 30" sluice box and was wanting to make a homemade highbanker with a recirculating water supply using a 1000gph pump in my garage. My question is... I think 30" isnt going to be quite long enough for the material to travel without losing some gold in...

Hi all
It's been a long time since I have posted some finds so here are some from today...
BTW if anybody knows some of the buttons please post info :) I will be researching them this week..
Sorry if the pics are to big or out of order..
This is my best nugget yet, don't want to give too much information, but it came from lucious Southern California soil! I was so excited when I found it, I couldn't stop shaking. It's only 1.6 grams, but it's bigger than any other flakes I've found!
I found it at a small antique shop, it is a small half-frosted cube with gold-leaf etchings on it. The etchings seem to be of Chinese origin. The cube is very rough, and seems to be hand carved. It was an a relatively old silk lined box when I purchased it. Sorry the photo is not the clearest...
There is a 7 which has circular writing talks about the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago instead of a gold seal that says Gold Certificate. It has been in circulation, but there are no tears in this bill? Would this be worth anything more than the $100.00 it states.
I have a bunch of old...
I have really been very tempted to trade in some of my coin roll hunting finds for gold lately, and today I did just that. I traded 7 rolls of 40%ers ($70 face), and 4 rolls of 90% FDR dimes ($20 face) for this beauty:
And then I bought this one with some savings:
Before you tear me a new...
Today I went out and looked around at the creek I pan at because it just rained like crazy and it's finally running really good. Sometimes I'll find nuggets laying on some topdirt after a big storm. But anyways... I noticed a few areas just before the creek took a couple of sharp turns it looked...
So yesterday I was looking around trying to find a new spot to prospect at the creek that I usually pan at when I came to a part where goes under the road and through 2 culvert pipes. Since the creek is dried up right now I decided to go through the pipe and look around. There wasn't any...
Met up with TrinityAu today for a little MD'ing. :)
Today I met up with TrinityAu for the first time, been meaning to do it for a while now and glad that I did. :)
Ray was helping me figure out my GB Pro a bit more and about the geology and mining history in the area that we were hunting...
I currently have the Fisher F2, a great beginner MD that even scored me a gold ring at the beach. We are starting to visit the beach more and I want to be in the water where the real treasures are. I mostly coin hunt at local parks and recreational facilities. I was looking at the Garrett AT...
Just a quick question... When mining in a river, should I dig deeper in the river to get gold or should I stay on top of the surface and move around more?

Heya everyone;
I finally bought a metal detector last weekend, a Fisher Gold Bug Pro.
I may have said that I was not going to buy anything from Fisher because of some things I had heard about their customer service but I changed my mind thanks to the helpful words from TrinityAu. :)
All I can...

MOSCOW – A vessel with a nine-person crew and 700 tons of gold ore onboard has disappeared in stormy seas off Russia's Pacific Coast.
The ship sent a distress call on Sunday as it was sailing...
Anyone ever try panning on the White pRiver near Indianapolis. I've found a spot and it reminds me of Colorado. It's a fast current and contains ALOT of boulders and rocks. Anyone ever pan the river??
I have a homemade sluice box but where I prospect, there is a lot of flour gold and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to make a flour gold recoverer?
Imagine how you would feel if you knew there was an iPad hidden somewhere across the street? How about an authentic 500-year-old coin from a sunken galleon? What if you knew within walking distance a new car was waiting to be found?
That’s what TreasureBug is all about; adding a modern twist to...
Hi All!
I was doing a little digging in the back yard which is about 80% white quartz.
I live right along Rock creek in Maryland.
It Looks Like Gold To Me!
But I would like to get an expert opinion.
I wish the pictures were better but this is what I got.
I bought a watch for $5.00 at a rummage sale and these clips were attached to the watch. The watch itself wasn't gold. Their for a ladies watch. I usually see turquoise set in sterling, so this was a nice surprise. The clips are stamped 14k with makers mark "SG". They are yellow gold. Does...
Heya everyone;
A local guy with the Shasta Miners Club is selling his Minelab Eureka Gold, it comes with a couple extra's like a set of black widow headphones, the bag and a Coiltek All Terrain Coil.
We settled on about 15 grams of gold and a small specimen for it, spot is about $852 today and...
Heya everyone;
So today I got to play with a Keene A52 sluice box.
I only ran 1 bucket of material and some of it was overburden from sniping.
It seems like I caught all of the gold that I put through as I didnt see anything more after the half way mark on the sluice.
I wanted to ask, how...
Hey guys, after about a year or searching and panning and sluicing and sniping...lol I finally found my first flake/nugget picker. it is about a quarter of an inch by a quarter of an inch! I gave up on trying to find gold from the shore so I went to my local dive shop and got a wetsuit...
Thread closed due to age. :D
This was platinum, and I sold it. :)
Heya everyone;
Question: Platinum or Silver or Other?
I found a small silver nugget today that I think may be Platinum.
I think it is right around 1/2 gram +/- and when I drop it in water it falls just as fast as gold.
I...
There has been two dowsing hits on this image. They were close to each other but not real close. One hit ore and one hit coins. So I am asking for a third opinion. I would suspect there would be silver ore in this area but the two prior hits said gold. I would even be happy with meteorites...
Heya everyone;
I have found a lot of little silver slugs that are heavy and very flexible over the last month and a half while underwater sniping.
These bits are ALWAYS with gold and I usually toss them aside though I have brough a few bits home.
If you break/bend one in half it is silver...
Heya everyone;
We were back in our spot today doing some more underwater sniping when I found a large quartz vein that had been broken up a bit.
It looks like it is Ribbon Quartz because of all the pockets and being able to be broken easily.
I can see the gold but I think there might be silver...
Hi All,
My son and I have just started searching for gold in idaho. We have found some gold and these little flake certainly look like gold.. no doubt. However, in another small creek near our house we have found a good amount of orange, very fine material. This stuff appears to be of...
I Found this Pan at an Estate Sale. Not sure if its Real or Faked. Seems to be one solid piece of metal, not sure what kind but it is magnetic. Im pretty sure it is not hand shaped because the edges are curved under and really nice and neat. I have my own theory about it if it is real (such as...
Heya everyone;
I have been thinking about buying a pump to help blow overburden away while underwater sniping.
I got the OK from Fish & Game today, they said as long as I am not sucking material in and just using the force of the water to blow overburden away that I would be fine.
So now I...
Heya Everyone;
Brand new to the forums and about 3 weeks new to underwater sniping.
I have tried panning several times as a kid and prospecting is rich on both sides of my family though I NEVER had any luck at it.
I only ever found a few specs of micro gold, would get frustrated and run off to...
I have a collection of British Sovereigns dating from 1899 to 1973 (obviously not the years they stopped making sovereigns!) All are 22k gold and are in excellent shape (close to uncirculated). I am trying to find values for them, but there are no places near me that deal with anything except...
I'm trying to find out some values for some old british 22k gold sovereigns. I have 15 loose sovereigns varying in date from 1899 to 1973, and 2 set in 9k gold cufflinks (coins were not damaged). All are in good shape and I'm trying to find out if their best value is to be sold for melt-down...
