The Many Lost Treasures of Mariposa, CA (Photos Added)

A message to ALL of my readers: I will be at the McCabe Flats camp ground, the one above the road, after you pass the main camp ground. I'll try to be there by 9am, Saturday. (08/03/13). It's about 53 miles from home to there, so if I'm a few minutes late, please be patient. This will be more of a "get aquainted" meeting than anything else. For the ones who might be interested, I might be talked into giving a little tour of the points of interest. (lol)

If you think you might be there, I would appreciate it if you would post your intentions, so that I will know if it will be worth the drive. Thanks!!

Too bad I have to work this weekend, would go for sure. I may go for a couple hours in the morning depending on how tired I am.

Saturday is looking less like a go with every passing day. I'm still gonna try and will give you a definite answer fri. Peace brother.

rlucasm: Ho Brother, this meeting is not so crucial that you HAVE to be there. Safety is more important. There will be more meetings in the future.

CharlesP, Don't worry about it. As I said, it's not crucial that you be there. Both, of you are always welcome to come to future gatherings.

Love and Respect,

Eagle

Just a quick update. I will be on the river tomorrow morning. Hope you can make it also.

Eagle

Thanks eagle for another great trip to the river. I enjoyed the company very much.

@rik it was great to finally meet you. I hope you had gold jumping on your pan after we left.

Sorry i didnt get up, friday night got called out on a job for saturday morning from a AAA customer who i never turn down, she brings in a lot of work for me so she's a gold mine that i work :coins: I'm looking at next weekend i'll even pick you up eagle if your open, i'm really trying these days to leave weekends open but seems like i get one good healthy weekend a month to get out, its getting tough fighting fatigue, work, running a business, aches and pains of worn out smokers body UGH....

Now this fire burning up our claims and possibly equipment, this sucks, the forestry service and environmentalists I feel are responsible for this whole OUT OF CONTROL wilderness fire up there as far as I'm concerned, no ones done there job up there for years just let the whole forest go and now its gone all the wildlife is gone, millions fighting it tax payer dollars gone, total waste of natural resources burned to ground, i'm p'd off........

It won't look like this for a LONG, LONG TIME

Aspen fire, over 20000 acres burned, includig Chuapacabras association claims, and possiibly gear. Should be 40 trees per acres, probably averages over 300 per acre. No fire there since 1938 and no logging since the spotted owl farce. Shut down two lumber mills, Auberry and Northfork and almost killed both towns. All those trees are robbing water from the streams and rivers. Even in normal and wet years, no volume of water for the watershed. That means no west side farming, no job, towns dying on the vine. These green nazis junk science and good intentions are going to be the death of us as a country. Color me PISSED.... sorry for the rant:BangHead:

Our partners went up today to see what they could see, couldn't get close enough to see our area, Dosy Ershim look out ?

we'll be going back to ashes :(

Guys, sorry I missed the meet up. I was running late as I picked up my grandson. I drove past the camp ground, but just saw some campers. I panned for a few hours then we had to head back. I think in future meet ups we should let eachother know what kind of vehicle we are driving, I know that would help me identify others.
So I missed meeting EagleDown, CharlesP and rik, dang it.......well hopefully in the future we can meet up again. Sorry guys hope you had fun! Let me know when you guys are going again.

Sorry to hear about your and Oakview2 tribulations. I share both your anger over the management of our forests and resources in general. One thing for sure, if we managed our businesses or jobs the same way our government manages anything we would be fired. Unfortunately, generally speaking, it seems like our government has forgotten who their employer is. Not sure of a way to rectify the problem, maybe we are too far down the road? Any way, I hope everything is found to be ok.

The fire starting was a act of God, but the mismanagment by the enviros and the FS, is negligence.

Just to let you all know if your trying to get a hold of Eagle he will not answer for a bit. His computer isn't working right now. So he can't get on treasurenet. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

Hows that new baby? Too bad I could not get up to see you guys this weekend. Too much to do, and the fire was a real gut punch

GreetingS all,

I read several pages of this thead months ago. Bagby, Sherlock Creek, Briceburg, all fascinate me. I lurk here on T-net, mostly. I did NOT check this thread before leaving on Saturday to go to Briceburg. My first trip in years to the area, and playing around with a pan. I MISSED YOU ALL, AND I WAS THERE!. I was in a Green Grand Cherokee lifted, parked a couple hundred yards upstream from what I think was the Cable Rock area. I have now subscribed to this thead so I won't be missing out. I plan on heading back up in the morning for some more serious work with a sluice. Best wishes to all, and look forward to the next gathering!

Sharp Rock Jerry
