Today we returned to the Saxon Site in the hope of a Sceat. Sadly it was still an ankle breaker & after 2 hours 15 minutes we gave up with just a Saxon Pin, Saxon Strap-end & Medieval Horse Pendant.
I then challenged Cru'dad to pick a field on the way home & he chose a site that he has mentioned a couple of times & I've not been keen. It's a low yield Roman Site that has had less than 30 bronzes & no silver. However, it was his pick & at least it had been deep ploughed & rolled.(2 hour hunt)
So as it happens it was totally the right call with a Roman Silver Pin (Treasure) & CELTIC GOLD!!! (My second this year)

12 Roman Coins
2 Tudor Buttons
Medieval Horse Harness Pendant (Type I need)
Saxon Pin (near complete)
Saxon Strap-end
Roman Bronze Pin
Roman SILVER Pin
Romano-Celtic Ring (shame it's broke) We have had this in kids size, but this is daddies...
Celtic Gold Stater of Cunobelin circa 10-20AD.:headbang:

I would be speechless seeing that in the hole.....wow, and it will look good up top...lots of good eye candy up there to add some gold to. Congrats to you and crudads intuition!

No hole needed, just a foot scrape - in the surfaces layer.

When we volunteer on an Archie digs we give up all our finds. Unless it's on land that we have prior permission, & in these cases we hand in all the stuff from the trench, trench spoil, & close to the trench. (everything else we keep/split with the owners)

I can only dream that one of my hunts goes that far wrong !!! Hoisting a Guiness as i type this - Cheers , dare I say Banner ?

Awesome finds! Love that gold coin! I like all the finds! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:
