If you've read some of my posts, you know I hate 9V batteries. I finally finished a working prototype of a 9V voltage booster so I can use a rechargeable LiPo in my Pro-Find 35. Here are a few pics:

Based on indoor testing, the performance exceeds the stock 9V battery. If you want to learn more, I have a blog post, but I'm not sure if I can post the link here.

I was hoping to use loose AAA cells for this, but it would require permanent modification of the end cap and I'm not ready to do that yet.

Looks good. No heat problems with the boost converter? You can add 9v pin terminals and wrap it to make it completely drop in.

None for the few minutes I was using it buzzing it with metal objects constantly. But when I do more testing, I'll pay attention to that. Thanks for your feedback!

Very nice modification! :occasion14:

Cleaned up the booster a little:20190507_090702.jpg20190507_090741.jpg20190507_090639.jpg20190507_090623.jpg

I realize this is an old post but was wondering how this mod held up/preformed.

It's hard to say.

I ended up selling my Pro-Find 35 and keeping my Garrett Carrot due to the ease in which the latter can be modded.

Currently, I run this adapter (with a few tweaks) in my Garrett Carrot and it works just fine. Put about a hundred hours on it in real world use and testing and it's still going strong. Also, I don't use it with a lithium battery pack. Rather, I use it with 3 AAA cells. See the pics below:
