Box 2 skunk - solid 2018
Cwr - 8 x 40%
Teller tray - 4 x 40%

Dimes
$335 cwr - 1 rosie

The half dollar boxes have been 3 straight weeks plus a week that i skipped for travel. I'm going one more week and if its 2018 again I'm going to lay low for a bit on boxes and focus on trying to get bags and cwr. I still want to hit 100 oz but the boxes have just been really bad with the 2018s in the mix

The skunks continue with the new 2018 halves.... kinda getting old. On a better note the red colored 40% was my 2000th 40% half dollar - making a total of $1000 face of 40%.

Cool Buff...is that a 1930 or a 1936 and is there mint mark? If it's a 1930S, that would be a very good find.

Congrats on number 2000! :occasion18:

The red 40% half you found may have been a jukebox coin from a bar back in the day. I have found only one, which was a ‘68D. I think they’re remarkable.

Grocery Store ??? How does that work? Those are in really good condition!

Hey sleepy, I get this question about once a year :laughing7: there are Safeway grocery stores in my area in WA, they have a customer service counter with a coin counter in the back. Sorts all their coin that comes through the store. I always ask they rep if I can get the halves.

This stop netted those bens - they are in great shape! Usually I pull a few ounces a year (about 4 to 5) from this source, but after a few years of asking the employees wise up and figure out what I'm doing. I've asked less and less, but this day I had a couple of scratch tickets to cash and asked. Got lucky!

Not every store has this setup, but a lot of money flows through these stores, and during the holidays I see finds pick up for sure!

The end of 2019 was super busy but managed a little silver through the last few weeks. I had a box order missed so that didnt help either. Lots of cwr dimes with poor results. The silver Canadian quarter was a neat find, free from the customer service counter. If was just sitting on her register and I asked to buy it, she just gave it to me 😂.

I'll have a 2019 year end total soon.

Longest Half Dollar Box Skunk Streak - 9 boxes. 64% of boxes were skunks
Longest Half Dollar Box Silver Streak - 4

Comparison to last year - I finished 35 ounces worse than last year. Half Dollars were pretty meager this year. I found less than half the halves I did last year. Some of the lower numbers was due to the solid 2018 Half dollar boxes I received this year, a total of 18 (go figure...) Not only did these produce skunk boxes but these also went back into circulation and diluted many more boxes. Some boxes weren't solid 2018, but may have contained 80% or more 2018 halves. I did do well on the dimes - I came across 3 or 4 solid rolls of silver dimes which really bumped up the dime finds.

I did have some awesome firsts this year. I found my first Standing Liberty quarters (2) in a cwr. Also found two silver commemoratives in a teller tray - 1925 Diamond Jubilee and a 1936 San Fran Oakland Bay Bridge. Also I found my first Morgan Dollar!!! Found in a coin machine I frequent to cash in my coins. A 2007 S Silver proof and a few solid rolls round out the year.

2020 Goal - 100 oz. With pretty much the same volume as last year I found 35 less ounces. I can attribute some of it to the boxes, which I do hope pick back up with the 2018 boxes a thing of the past (I hope). I do need a nice collection dump to spike up the numbers.

Best of luck to all of you in 2020. HH

Apparently so well that you couldn't quite remember the exact count! :D Now that's a great problem to have! I hope to find a solid dime roll one day...
