I drove an hour from home this morning and got a nice permission to hunt two adjacent yards. I dug 6 silvers and 14 wheat pennies altogether - 5 Mercs ('34,'42,'43,'44); 1916 Barber dime; 1958 Washington Quarter.

Overall, a very productive day!

Thanks for looking!

Nice!! What led you to these two yards in particular? Wondering if you drove an hour just to go to those houses? Or happened to be there and randomly asked a couple of homeowners if you could detect there? Let me learn your ways :notworthy:

Wow, nice job on the silver finds! :occasion14:

A 6 silver day is awesome! Congrats on getting out and searching out new sites... So did you have this yard in mind or did you simply venture out in search of..? Kudos on your perseverance, Ddf.

I went to visit some friends who own/manage a bank in the town to see if they would let me hunt any property that the bank might have repossessed. The bank had no such properties at this time, but one person remembered that she owned two family properties that were next door to one another and she gave me permission to hunt them. Before I retired I did bank auditing work, so I have these sorts of contacts in a number of small towns, and have used this strategy several times successfully in the last few years. BTW, I returned to the town yesterday and the banker got me a permission for another house, but all I found there were a few more wheats. After that I hunted a park and an old fairgrounds, but found only newer clad. I then returned to the first permission site and worked the sidewalks in front of the houses and dug a 1925 Mercury dime. So my total for the first site is now 7 silvers!

All in all, it was worth it to make the drive 2 days in a row! I'll probably be returning at a later date.

Wow! Great day of hunting for sure.

Thanks! This is the second time I've dug 6 silvers in a day. I sure wish it could happen more often!

My previous best day was ~23 silvers at an old plantation site almost a year ago. If you search my posts on this board you can read the whole story.

Door knocking pays off. Congratulations on a great hunt.:icon_thumright:
