Xlt Depth?

the attachments are not letting me see them
Here are my custom XLT programs. I don't run "hot", but I do search deep. Soil conditions can affect performance by an inch or so, but should not make a big difference. Learn the trademark sounds of a good target. View attachment 879564 Let the machine do the work, don't dig junk signals because you hope they are something good. Sometimes I search more than an hour without digging. I will usually dig 50-60% good targets using these programs. Don't worry about what you may be missing. Concentrate on what you are finding! Learn the machine and have fun! H Digs! View attachment 879555 View attachment 879556 View attachment 879557 View attachment 879558

Swing that sucker like a weedeater ... she needs quick swing to get the best depth !!! I hunted with a guy before I ever owned an XLT and he had such a fast swing that I thought no way he could find anything. I asked him about it and he told me about the depth of the machine being better with a faster swing. When I got one (old Rainbow coil) I put the swing to the test and found his words to be true.

I have a question.I didn't want to make another thread on this.I went by an estate sale today and saw a whites spectrum xlt.Don't know much about them. But it has a rainbow on it.Which i think that makes it from the 90's.He wants 300 for it that sounds a bit steep to me.But to anyone what are they worth?

Just registered on Treasurenet. These attachments don't work for me. Maybe because they were from October? I could use another way to get the custom xlt programs from Twinkeltoes. Thanks.

I couldn't download them either, and they were sent to me? Not sure why

Go to the White's forums. They have a ton of programs available for download there.

The deepest coin I've found is a 1941 quarter about 14" down in wet salt sand on Long Beach in Mississippi. I had used a beach program that I found surfing on the internet. I just sold a Minelab Explorer SE Pro and purchased a VX3... Hoping that this will get some of the similar depth as the XLT.....

My spectrum XLT with the standard 10 inch concentric can find my test bed targets (Australian 20 cent, 10 cent and 1 & 2 dollar coins) comfortably at 6 inches in moderaltely iron mineralised ground while in the preset C & J Mode. I think our 10 cent is roughly the same size as your quarter. The 20 comes in at the ring pultab mark and the 1 & 2 dollar come in at the nickel position.
I can lift the coil 3 inches off the ground and still get TID (Just beginning to jump about a bit).
This ground will GB at a setting of 8 on most standard VLF TR detectors with a GB scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being extreme iron mineralisation.

The XLT has been around for a few years now but I still concider it to be an excellent coin and relic metal detector and far better than average. Jimmy Siera made a good one with the XLT. The detector is a great almost turn on and go machine with the pre set programs for beginners and oldies alike and it has some serious programmable adjustments that can realy make this detector sing for an experienced detectorist in almost any ground conditions outside of heavy iron mineralisation.

Just my personal opinion , Not Gospel

It's bad enough that gold comes in as pull tabs...if our coins came in as pull tabs also I would probably pick a different hobby. Lol

Some coins do.

Our coins are made from junk metal Copper/Nickel and have a metal content value of less than 40% the face values depending on the coin.
5 cents are in the foil range. 10 cents is in the smaller pultab range . The 20 cent is in the ringpull range (Spot on it actually) The 1 and 2 dollar coins in the nickel range and is easy to identify. The 1 and 2 cents (Now defunct) come in the higher silver range. The Sov IDs (With meter)these coins ok. All of these coins are in the gold range so dig it all if you want to find the good stuff.

Spreadsheets

One thing that I have done is take the settings of the stock programs in the XLT and put it in a spreadsheet. Then I recorded all of my custom programs as well. This allows me to look at the settings of all the programs and compare them, and adjust the programs to my liking.

If anyone wants this file, just let me know. I also included the definitions of what each setting does just for reference.

Beerguy,
BigErn here from Auburn. I'm new to the MD world and just purchased a Whites XLT. It came with the standard 9.5" loop, the BlueMax DD and a Bullseye 5.3, but no user manual.
I've had it out running the stock programs and want to learn more about the settings and the different loops.
Can i get a copy of your spreadsheets?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I would love to have that info, Got my XLT used & only operate in the factory Settings (' for the last several years).
Works well for me but that's all I know.

In coin mode & Ground balanced it's Good for 6-7 inches on Dimes / Cents laying flat In N Georgia's Red clay Soil & a tad deeper in the Hardwoods.

Pm me please..

Davers

I only use the 950? Blue Max Coil
but
Have an older White in Color est 8 inch Round Coil ' off an old Coin master'
but need to find a Smaller 3/8 inch Nylon Screw to hold the loop on to the Rod.
I have 2 lower rods so to switch coils all I have to do is Change Rods.

With the 950 coil it's relatively fast sweep, however if u have an 8 inch(blue max) coil it turns into a bit slower sweep(and a real coin killer that pinpoints right on)- nt

Dale, have you ever tried a Bigfoot coil?

You can walk at a good clip and overlap your sweeps.

Fantastic at new sites when you are trying to find the hot spots.
