I found this at a WW1 US airplane and general training base and after washing it off I saw that it said heads on one side and tails on the other (I thought it was on there with pencil then I tried an eraser and washed it off and it did not wash off so it definitely is carved) do you know what it was carved on and if it is WW1 or WW2 or newer?

Thanks!!

Looks like it was a heavy duty washer that was repurposed into a game piece.

You would have to dive into the history there. What state are you in? Was the place open in World War II? Either way, I would think closer to world war I than world way 2 for carved handmade game piece like that, if it were found in a camp that was opened in World War I. Are you in the Southwest? There was a lot of US military activity here in the Southwest, especially along the border, around the time of World War I, but not quite as much in World War II.

Ya I live in San Diego California, there was a WW1 and WW2 and up until the 1970s military base where I found it! I found it at a spot where the military pilots would park the airplanes, it was found about 2 miles from the border.

Very interesting. In my opinion, I would thinks its earlier than later for a homemade game piece sort of thing like that.
