So we've been researching this site. We've been there before, but as I stepped out of the truck this morning things seemed to look different. I think different, because we've taken the time to read about the place. This is a large area and has seen folks around for many years, so we were hoping to find some older keepers.
First find in the keeper pocket was a buckle! Love to find these. I'll add it to my small collection for sure.

Next find was this neat brooch/pin....I am still cleaning on it.....

I find a broken buckle, and then a first for me. My first shield nickel!! :hello2:

I found this next...anyone know what it is?

Found a neat lock...

And Lisa found one that is soooo cool! It's in the shape of a heart. She also found her first V nickel. :icon_thumright: She hasn't sent me any pics yet. :-\
Found a 1912D wheat. Is the prettiest color of green and is cleaning up fairly well.

Don't know what this is, but thought it was something to take a second look at...
100_0311.JPG
When did they make harmonica reeds out of lead? :icon_scratch: It's lead with the little brass/copper looking little something-or-others....
Found a toe tap, assorted lead (one's a lead seal) and other bits and pieces.
Last find of the day was a button. I had no idea what it was. I thought thru the crusty dirt I could see some initials, but didn't know what I had. When I got home, I was so nervous about cleaning it. Here's a pic with just brushing it lightly with a toothbrush....

I started getting all fidgety and trying to read what it said. :D ACC? Does it say ACC? What's ACC? :icon_scratch: OH MY GOODNESS! I knew I needed to take my time and not totally ruin something that might be good. Remembered reading on one of BB's threads not to soak it in water if it's a two piece, so I got the toothpick out and got to cleaning. After what seemed like hours of picking at it, I got a few Q-tips and dampened them. Rubbed a bit more of the dirt off and here's what it looks like....

I can read the word 'Waterbury' on the back..and there's something else there, but I can't make it out.

Happy dance occurred in the den, at my desk, looking thru a magnifying glass with a toothpick in one hand and the button in the other.

Have a great week!!

Nana,
I'm headed to work right now, but I can't wait to get home and look at you finds again and see what that ACC button is. Congrats to you both on a super hunt. I think that whatsit may be one of these I spotted in Crouch's CW relics book. It says it's a "music holder that attached to instruments." What do you think? :icon_scratch:
Back later,
MM

I found one ....... some ancient relics from USA are identical in Europe. :o

Thank you Badger! :-* I've really missed you and glad you're back! :)

Thanks, Brian!! :)

That other item you couldn't figure out is a handle to what I believe is an old butter knife. The blades sometimes broke off near the handle. Nice finds.

Thanks JD. :)
