Wildlife Breakfast

I clicked on iCloud but there is no “private relay” setting in my phone.
Maybe your iPhone OS version is before they added private relay. I think it was first introduced in iOS version 15. I also saw one thing that said you have to have an iCloud+ (extra storage) account, but I don't know if that's true or not. In any case, if you don't have it, that means it can't be on, so that isn't the problem. But I don't know what it is then (other than Google/Youtube is being a pain). ???

Maybe this will work better? Same video, just not hosted on YouTube.

That video worked! Yay! I’ve always put out cracked corn for the birds in winter. I’ll have to buy a bag off shelled corn next time. We have turkeys pass through occasionally and lots of deer. I’d like to attract the turkeys. My phone is a 14pro and I do have iCloud. I need to work on my tech skills.

Hi @robertk I know its cool to feed the Deer, however with the on going problems of (CWD) Chronic Wasting Disease in Missouri Fish and Wildlife prohibits the feeding of Deer in CWD management zone counties. Its in place to slow the spread of CWD and to prevent the unnatural congregation of Deer, which can lead to rapid spread of the Disease. As a hunter and out door enthusiast please read the Fish and Game laws pertaining to CWD. Please keep our wildlife wild don't feed the Deer.

I appreciate the concern, but I have already read the laws. Below is a screenshot from the Missouri Department of Conservation website specifically from the CWD section:

Note that first line, feeding within 100 feet of a residence is permissibly. That fence you see in the video is probably about 25 feet from my back door.

We do watch for any sign of illness in the wildlife, and we have a LOT more photo and video than what I've posted here. We've been watching them for several years, and all the deer seem healthy, and not showing any sign of any of these CWD symptoms:

You might point out the "lack of fear around humans", but despite how it seems in the video, that is not really true of these deer either. They are cautious even around us, and they will vanish into the woods instantly if any human other than me or my wife comes out there. The same is true of the turkeys, oddly enough. They know when it's not us out there. Even if we have other family walk out there with us, the wildlife retreats to the woods.

The law concerning feeding and congregating is ridiculous. I have deer eat the food I put out for birds by my house occasionally. The most deer I’ve seen is 3. However, just two days ago I drove around the section and there were 40 deer that I could count, all together in a harvested bean field. Half were eating and the rest running and playing. If they get sick they will spread it naturally during their normal daily routine. Drought and midge contaminated water holes are the source, not human activity.

Not correct….well partly not correct. Midge is responsible for blue/black tongue, which is cyclical and somewhat dependent upon weather. Cwd is spread via prion, which is and archaic version of a virus (as I understand). Prions are very “shelf stable” being able to last for many years in the wild, and not even being impacted by fire.

I do agree the spread will occur without feeding, theory is the feeding band slow it down.

cwd is similar to mad cow or cruesfeldt jakobs (sic) in humans

Key word ! slow it down. I hunt in Ca and now CWD tested positive in 2 Deer where I hunt. First time this has happened in 40 years . It was mandatory sampling in those zones.
