I think this was mentioned in another thread as well, but I've noticed that the number of posts here have pretty much fallen off a cliff in the last couple weeks.

I'm speculating that it may because of one or a combination of these reasons:

A. Nobody is finding anything worth posting about.
B. Too many unknown new members/Old members are leaving.
C. Don't like the new site since it was changed over.
D. Since silver seems to be drying up, don't want to encourage new people from joining the search.

I'm not saying I support or believe in any of these, just that they may be possibilities. Anybody else feel the same way or have any other possibilities?

Well I can say this, I really dont like the new site structure, Had just gotten used to the old one and could find what I was looking for very quick.
And my pc got a virus AND I have been out in the world a looking for Treasure. Latest find Friday a very nice 1921 D Merc.
I'll try to swing by a little more...Thanks

You should allow the chat room to be open to Bronze, silver, gold members, and charter members just like the old TNET. Now, the chat room is only for charter members. I disagree 100%, those who have the time and dedication to this thread to post 1,000+ times should also have the rights to the chat room. This is my 2 wheat cents.

BB,

I am checking into that for you, I will reply when I have more info for you...

I'm a longtime member of another forum and they underwent a similar sea change in appearance. At first a lot of the rank and file cried foul with the usual complaints but after a few months (yeah, it takes that long) you get used to it.

The biggest thing I'm adjusting to here is the non-white backgrounds on the forum pages. Red on gray text doesn't stand out like blue on white used to.

We are working on an alternative skin to include a style similar to the old site.

I do like the current background, the format will definately take a LONG LONG time to get used to.

I dont know why people are having problems with the site loading slow. It works very fast for me and I am unsing IE8. I actually like the new format for the most part. I wish you received an email everytime someone replies to a post you started

I agree with not liking the new format and have pretty much stayed away since, whereas I was a daily visitor.

All of the above...

I think with the better weather it will pick up, but mostly because of new people joining, so I'm not sure the great finds will really increase a lot. Personally I will be very limited in my posting because if I kept it at the same rate as what it once was it would feel more like a job trying to keep track where everything is. That is definitely something I don't need, so will probably be a lurker like most everyone else. In fact, I'll probably join several forums just to get a quick finds fix for what's recently found and probably not say much at all.

For me, its the new format, not only do I dislike it aesthetically, it is broken for me functionally. Any time I try to log on with Firefox I log in just fine (I see the, thank you for logging in... message) but as soon as it does that I get the ever so nice, "Welcome guest, Is this your first time visiting?" where it should have my UN and settings. Tried multiple password resets and still doesn't work, it works in Chrome which I'm using to post this, but not being able to even log in with Firefox is a deal-breaker for me. As for silver, haven't gotten much of it at banks, but have been hitting auctions (physical, not eBay), garage sales and estate sales heavily and managed to get some silver at much discounted prices, if not face (my most recent one was bidding on a lot of "post-1971" halves that "had no silver" except for the fact there was clear silver toning on one and it had a "D" on the reverse! Of course no one else wanted it so ended up getting the lot of $5 face value for $5.50 and sure enough it was a 1964-D) cents have been decent-ish, pulled a 1909 VDB out of a box about a week or so ago (I keep hoping the "S" will appear overnight!).

For anyone having problems staying logged in I can guarantee you it's a cookie problem. Please delete all of your cookies in Firefox and try again and that will fix it.

Don.....

Don,

This is exactly what we need. I see so many complaints of members not being able to do something on the new site that they could on the old site. And while I understand it may be different and I have no problem with that, we need the forum membership to help us help them. We as mods don't see every complaint or question so if a member knows the answer please let the other member know the process for achieving what they are trying to do on the new site.

Thanks again Don for helping, great advice.

I, too, like most everyone else HATE this new software. One of the worst things for me (other than how it looks & not being able to find my way around) is the tiny reply typing window. I can't see all of the above quote, plus I have to continuously slide the side bar up and down as well as the bottom bar back/forth. I use to spend hours here, but the hassle is just not worth it. I keep thinking I will get use to it, but so far it hasn't happened. As you can see from my number of post, this is certainly not my first rodeo on TNet. I haven't seen the answer to this question by the admins, but I wonder if it is possible to get the OLD SOFTWARE back???? Breezie

Breezie,

I've answered that question at least 20 times. No, it is not possible to get the old software back.

I also answered your question last time where you mentioned having the reply window so small. You can find it here at post #102: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...iked-old-treasurenet-crap-11.html#post2732052

Well, excuse me, I didn't see it 20 times. If I had seen it one time, I wouldn't have ask the question. As far as the answer to my other question, I haven't see that either, but will go as soon as I post this. Thanks, Breezie
