Why are people so mean?

Sometimes people are "mean" because they are just sick and tired of someone's BS.

We can enjoy these experiences and have fun with them
There will always be those who are unwilling or unable to engage in healthy dialog, so stick with the ones who can..my two cents

Simple respect and courtesy works people. You either have it or you dont. I see bad things happen and I wonder, how these folks would act around a dinner table. Sometimes is just sarcasm that has gone bad too.

I know a narcissists or two, or seven......
I find if I am truly tired of someone's bs, I tend not to put myself in a position, that I would have to be subject to their attitudes or abuse!
Some ppls' toxicity is just too mentally draining.

Usually a component of dysfunctional personality associated with a paranoid presentation, resulting in an individual who has limited social skills and results in blameless introspection with subsequent exhibited "meaness"!! In my opinion, just because a person happens to make a comment or remark that is interpreted as "mean" ( nasty, offensive or malicious), doesn't mean he or she is actually a "mean" person. They could just be having a bad day. There are a lot of good folks here on T-net.

What one person considers mean someone else may see as constructive, this is why it helps to report it to mods and let mod look.

Telling someone their detector will not work on saltwater beaches, or I use to open that detector and it is terrible is allowed.

Another problem we hear is someone saying " a lot of trolls here" and a member is offended when it is allowed if talking in general, but violates our rules when calling any specific member a troll.

Most people are mean because of several factors. As a veteran police officer i have first hand had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with them all at some point and it's really sad that society has stooped this low.

1. Some people today feel inferior in certain areas of their pathetic life and around certain groups so they have to be a jerk and in turn, thinking they are cute and funny. In their warped and twisted mind they think that will gain them acceptance in an otherwise inferior environment.

2. Some people are just that; just down right mean because they choose to be that way. Their life sucks and they are not happy until they make your life suck too.

3. Some people are just ignorant & stupid and simply don't care! Look at some of their lives and you will see this. Look at their dysfunctionality in their jobs (if any), homes ( if one), marriage (if one) and so on. This will typically explain this reasoning.

4. Too many people today don't respect anyone. They don't respect themselves and certainly not anyone on a website forum. They are cowards who sit behind their little monitor and spew all kinds of fowl knowing that no one or nothing is gonna do anything about it. Again, no teaching from their parents to respect other peoples rights, opinions or thoughts.

5. Finally, I'm sure in a fair amount of these instances, it's just dumb azz kids. Kids who don't have anything better to do that to get on here and show the world just how immature they really are by mouthing hate.

These are my experiences with these types of outcasts but i'm sure there are many other reasons too.
