Why are people so mean?

I do wonder where my thought's come from...it's often hard to distinguish them from the voices in my head. I can with utmost confidence say you do not create thoughts, only receive them.

Ah yes, the collective consciousness and all those thought forms.
Many things floating through my head from the grid.
Do I take ownership of a thought (is it truly mine?) or do I just observe it and let it pass on through.
Ego is what makes those thoughts stick.
When the ego gets hurt or inflated a reaction comes.
Sit behind a computer, shielded from reality and people will say things that are not true to who they really are.
Those people with morals can react from mean comments and thus try to take on the weight and hopelessly correct what is wrong.
This could lead to long drawn out battles that just waste precious moments of this short physical life.
Wow, after reading all the posts in this thread, look what happened! It shaped me to write this!:laughing7:
Good discussion.
Cheers,
Dave.

Thanks everyone for the responses...I enjoyed reading your " thoughts" on the subject. Dave, may I print out tour comment and put it in my fridge?? Very inspirational!! Chris thanks for giving me another subject to research.

Some people are just jerks.
Some people are just "straight shooters" and can come off as rude.
Some people are jokers and jokes can easily fail in the translation of typed words.
Some people are thin-skinned and too easily offended.
Some people are just looking for a chance to be offended.

The world is full of all kinds.
Some, are people like myself. Admire Tom of Ca, yet enjoyed TICM -for the most part. Lol
I want the, "don't piss on my head, and tell me its raining", people.
It's the intellectual ones that don't know what their talking about, that confuse me.

You my Friend are one of the few. GodBless Chris

Yeah buddy you can be 10 feet tall and bullet proof on the internet. Sometimes what you type with the best intentions is taken wrong. I made a remark about heat treating of lithic materials, which I'm really interested in, but the poster took it wrong, and thought I was casting aspersions on him. That was not my intent, but re-reading my post I saw how it could be taken that way. I felt about 2 inches tall. Anything I say on here I'm fine with sayin it directly to your face in person. Hope I haven't offended you, but if I have, just how big a boy are you?

Not sure why people are mean, but I did see a bumper sticker that may shed some light on the question. It read, "If you are eating a
chit sandwich, it's probably because you ordered it." I believe it could be something they ate.

OP, I don't know what your specific complaint is([Someone criticizing you for something]?) but, having been on a LOT of boards over the years (I'm a longtime member of the largest gun-related site on the web [That I know of at least]) I've seen plenty of the stuff you're complaining about.

These places are (Generally) anonymous. Some folks get a kick out of making a**hats of themselves for whatever jollies it gains them(?)

I'm a political "junkie" and have been arguing with people that I disagree with online for most of 2 decades. 90% of the time it "seems" like we
(Me and the folks I'm arguing with) can both enjoy the argument without acting like 8yr olds. On the OTHER hand though....there's always THOSE
dudes.....lol8-)

I enjoy teasing with no malice intended, using myself as the butt of a joke though sometimes from the lack of response to my humor I have concerns that I've posted that item. Again, no offense intended and apologies if I've messed up.

On the other hand, Mean People have at least two good uses, they act as role models we do not want to copy and they give us someone to pray for with kindness and love. Generally I feel they are causing themselves more trouble than they've ever caused me, IMO. Maintain your integrity as its all we really have................63bkpkr

Actually this has nothing to do with me personally. It applies to a couple of threads where the OP was made fun of for their question. I have never understood the joy some get out of these type of actions.

I have also noticed that the people I have seent do this on a regular basis haven't responded to my question....Curious...

Thanks again for chiming in...

In my opinion, just because a person happens to make a comment or remark that is interpreted as "mean" ( nasty, offensive or malicious), doesn't mean he or she is actually a "mean" person. They could just be having a bad day. There are a lot of good folks here on T-net.

EH, they're probably just douchebags then...lol

Some folks just seem to revel in their their own unhappiness. God bless 'em and I hope that they find their
way eventually to "something" approaching satisfaction with their existence.

They are mean, usually, because they have experienced a lot of pain (psychological pain).
Or maybe when they were kids they had the holy H beat out of them from bad parents.

Or it could be they were spoiled rotten as kids and hate the real world for being the real world...They feel cheated and so they lash out.

what is considered being mean

I would consider somebody being mean by trying to belittle a person so they would look smarter. Or just being plain rude.

We have an opportunity on these threads to meet new people who have many ideas about things, some we will agree with and some not.
We can enjoy these experiences and have fun with them
There will always be those who are unwilling or unable to engage in healthy dialog, so stick with the ones who can..my two cents
