Ken Curtis made two albums during his Gunsmoke run: Festus Sings 'n Talks 'Bout Dodge City 'n Stuff and Gunsmoke's Festus Haggen Calls Out Ken Curtis. He performed a few of the songs in his earlier Gunsmoke episodes, including “The Ballad of Hawg Haggen” and “Cornbread and Buttermilk.” Ken wrote most of the monologues and songs on the first album.

He was married to John Ford's daughter, Barbara. John Ford wanted Ken to act in a real foolish way in one of the movies, which peaved Curtis off....thus began the characterization of Festus Haggen.

Ken Curtis is like Jim Nabors...who would have ever thunk that such an absolute beautiful voice could come from that face....LOL Ken Curtis served 4 years as the lead singer of the Sons of the Pioneers. Who would have ever thunk?
