White's Prizm question re: headphone jack problem
Hi, all,
While on a recent trip, I noticed that the detector had become silent after giving lots of signals. At first I thought maybe the headphone volume had been bumped and turned down, but it wasn't so. When I took the headphone plug out, the detector gave its usual beeping sound, but when I plugged the headphones in, it again became silent.
Then I pulled the headphone jack out halfway, and the beeping could be heard in the headphones. I plugged them back in all the way and they again became silent. I am confused! Anyone have any ideas about what to do? The detector/headphone setup is usable with the headphones plugged in halfway, but it is weird not to plug the headphones in all the way. The detector is under warranty until November, but I am using it constantly right now and wouldn't like to be without a detector, even for a week. Is this a warranty-only type repair, or something I can do myself? I guess I could use it "as is" until the detecting season is over, then send it in for repair if necessary.
I appreciate any advice, especially if you know a "quick and easy" fix for this type of problem.
Thanks,
Mike in Oregon
