whites coinmaster detector

Re: white's coinmaster detector

I used to use the COINMASTER 6000-D SERIES 2

? It was a great machine for its? time.

will match most of the midrange detectors for depth.

8 to 10 Inches on a Quarter.

? As you said, A little Heavy.

Re: white's coinmaster detector

Definately an Antique.

? ?can't tell you much about that one , only that it looks like maby the first version of a Coinmaster.

60's Maby

? The Fact the one Knob is titled "RADIO TUNER"

Tells me BFO type &

that the Coinmaster iV Manual, that comes with it, Is? most likely the Wrong Manual.

Re: white's coinmaster detector

There is a reason why high bid on that detector is $5. To a vintage detector collector it is in terrible condition( Not that you are going to hear an appraiser on the Antique roadshow say" early White's BFO $3000 to$5000 at auction") Unfortunately many people who buy these things do not collect vintage detectors but ACTUALLY WANT TO USE THEM. They quickly find out the thing has problems-doesn't work or no manual. Then they are over here asking for help or manuals. Of course the people who used these things are long dead or senile(Unfortunately I fall in the latter category)and they receive little help. I suspect a lot of people don't do the right thing and do not place them in dumpsters but recycle them on E-Bay.

Make no mistake about it there are a lot of good used detectors out there. I still have my Whites' series 3 detector and it would make a great $50 detector for a newbie(who would probably pay $150 for it on E-Bay)You are going to find the hassle and cost of getting some of these vintage detectors working and the poor performance compared to a $89 WalMart detector just isn't worth it.
