🙋 WANTED Where can i go for the best deal on a lesche or similar digger??

Ive checked amazon but all the lesche diggers have anywhere from 9-13$ shipping tagged on to the sale price.

probaby best bet would be ebay i got mine for 20 bucks

Be careful what you buy.
There are two 'Lesches'

One is by Predator tools, is very finely finished, a little bit more dull in the tip and has "for digging use only" stamped on it. It has the predator logo. This is made by george lesche and predator tools.

The other one is not as finely constructed (but still quite durable and still better than any of that crap minelab or the other diggers put out) It looks VERY, VERY similar.
It has "lesche" in an oval stamped on it. This one is made by George Lesche's wife's company.
They are still heat treated quite well, but have some choppy tooling and machining marks.

I don't know the full story but I guess there was a divorce settlement and they both got whatever they needed to to make these two tools.

If you see a big price difference, chances are it is the 'lesche tool' version with the oval "Lesche" logo, and not the predator tool one.
They are both very good quality and I would recommend either, but the Predator tool version is a bit more finely crafted.

I ended up getting the Kellyco "Gator" tool when I recently bought my new Garrett Pinpointer. It was a deal where it cam with it for free. I've used it quite a bit now and after having an edge put on it (pretty dull outta the box) it works GREAT! Strong, seems to be able to take a beating and still cut right through roots and tough sod. The one thing I noticed with it was that the other day the orange handgrip came loose and was spinning around when I was using it. Gonna either put some epoxy on it or take it off and put on a ribbed bicycle hand grip. The grip that comes with it has finger grooves but when digging a plug you don't always have your hand on it the same way. There is some discussion, pictures and a video talking about the Gator and Lesche in this thread:

Predator is much better than Lesche in my opinion. They last forever. The Raptor is tough to beat for digging.

I guess that depends on where you hunt.
If you are coinshooting in parks, yards and playgrounds, shovels tend to annoy people.
In my old city, you would be ticketed for using a shovel in a park.
I have found that if I am using a single coil machine in grass, I don't need a shovel. A lesche is just fine for me.

But I suppose if you have to chop through tough soil or roots, or are going deeper than 10" or so, a relic shovel is required.

Predator Tools makes the original Lesche under a different name,George Lesche is the owner of predator tools.

Um, I know.
I posted that above...

I thought you were saying that predator tools only makes shovels and not hand digging tools.Sorry,I was a bit confused by your second post.

Thank you for the insight. I was hunting for a good digger. I appreciate it.

And I like tortoises.

Oh!
:)
No, sorry...
Predator makes a LOT of different diggers and shovels.
Lesche tool makes a version of the Lesche digger and that's it..

I have used the Kellyco Gator Digger, the Lesche and the orange and black one made by Fiskars.

Honestly, I like the El' cheapo Fiskars, cause of the beefier, rubberized handle and it seems to cuts through roots better. The Lesche is very dull and doesn't saw the ground as well. The Kellyco digger isn't much better. I think that the likes and dislikes are all kind of trivial, main thing if it works and doesn't break.

I just saved myself a bunch of time and headache and hollered at Tom over at Miller MDZ,He worked up a package deal for me that was just to good to pass up. I recently lost my propointer while detecting in michigan a few weeks back(second one i have lost in 2 years) Tom hooked me up with a lesche and a new Minelab Profind pinpointer ,I have used the profind a few times but this will be the first one i have owned,Im excited to get it and put it through its paces,I think the sensitivity adjustment of the minelab pinpointer will be very handy to have in some of the trashy areas i hunt,The reviews of the profind are all over the board and i will probably get another propointer when they come back in stock just because i have time with the garrett already under my belt.I guess for now i`ll just sit back and wait for the mailman to bring my new toys within the next few days. If you are looking to buy anything metal detector related,Give tom a call,He is a great guy, very honest and always a pleasure to do business with,He can hook you up. Thanks to everyone for the info on the digging tools and a big thanks to Tom and Miller MDZ for all the help.

Lol I must ask how can you lose a pin pointer when you have a metal detector ?

White's sells Lesche if thats what you want butt hey are more of a decorative knife if you ask me, they also sell their own digging trowel for $12 which is stainless steel and indestructible unless you drop a wrecking ball on it and flatten it but it would still dig even flat.
