Hello Diggers-

I was cleaning out my junk pile yesterday as I get ready for the fall relic hunting season here in VA where I live and discovered two small slender brass pieces that I dug sometime this past spring but I had no idea what these items are and where I dug these?

I posted on another forum and received a confirmation of both small brass items-both are part of a flint lock rifle, late 1700s early 1800s side plate. I had no idea and almost threw these out. Although they’re probably not worth a buck 🤣😂, they’re pricelesss to me as these are the first pieces of any gun I have dug, and Lord willing 🙏🏽 Will not be my last. Happy digging all!

When I was a teen we knew of what I would later come to know as a bottle dump, spent many a day there shooting bottles with 22 rifles.Didn,t know then they would some day maybe be valuable.Yeah I know, but at that time nobody gave a lick about bottles. It,s not there anymore I looked. The ground there was removed very deep during a land leveling to make a rice field.
