After some recent success, I've been spending more time out in some of the older parks around. I can tell I'm in old ground because I'm finding Wheaties but I've only found a couple pieces of silver in these areas. And half the silver I've found was pretty much in the same hole as the Wheaties so I'm not sure if I originally found the copper or the silver...

So this leads to noobie-type questions. Is this pretty normal that I've found coins in a thirty Wheaties for a couple dimes ratio? Or are these areas that have been picked over for silver preferentially? Have I just learned what the Wheats sound like on the etrac and am not hearing the silver properly? Or have I done pretty good and just need to keep digging? Any comments would be greatly appreciated...HH

If it counts for anything, over the past two days I've dug 21 wheats and just one silver dime.

Happy hunting!!

to me if Wheats are there the silver can't be far away Keep the faith

if I could find silver at an even ratio to wheats or clad, I'd quit my day job and detect full time :laughing9:

Think of it this way, because what applies now definitely applied then...

If you drop a penny on the ground at a field, do you bother to look for it?

Probably not.

If you drop a nickel? Ehh, if you came to the game with just enough for admission and a snack, maybe.

What if you dropped a dime or a quarter? Idk about the rest of you, but dimes and quarters add up faster than nickels and pennies. You bet your ass I'll be looking for it.
