Thanks!!! Yes, I did loan it to the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum here in Sebastian, Fl. I don't want to cut it because of the history and I enjoy sharing the story. The idea that I was the first person to hold something that was probably here in the ocean for the past nearly 300 years is amazing. But it's even more amazing to think some poor and probably a "slave" had to mine it, and then it was probably carried onto a ship by another poor sailor, and finally went down with the ship made me realize that somethings should not be changed. But you are absolutely right... :) ....it would make an awesome piece of jewelry!!

My older brother gave me my nickname when I was very young,it stuck and I've been "Fatty" all my life.Worked with my dad and brother on rigs in the oil field, was always funny when somebody would come to the rig and my dad and brother would be calling me fatty and the guy would look funny or say "man, you gonna let him call you that? That's my name.

beautiful emerald...fantastic...

the story on how those were mined...well...calling them slaves is a step up from the actuality...the first 50 years after contact, the natives were not even treated as human...
literally did not have a soul, according to the Spaniards...

Hmmm... I found an 69.32ct uncut Columbian Emerald while beachcombing here on the Treasure Coast in March 2007. And just two days before my birthday which is St. Patrick's Day. It is my best find so far!!! The emerald is currently on display at the Mel Fisher Treasure Museum in Sebastian, Fl. Ergo, 1 emerald lady...lol!
This post takes some beating as the most interesting reason for choosing a TN name, any other good ones out there??

Joe hunter, pic for you.....how's the beagle?
