What's the hardest coin to find?

For me it's nickels. On my machine they sound just like pull tabs and I haven't been able to discern the difference in the tone although some say they can. I have only found one so far and several hundred various other coins mostly clad. I think, AHA it's a nickel and sure enough , another pull tab! Foil and clad pennies sound a lot alike to me but I can tell the difference most of the time. Quarters and dimes seem to be pretty easy. But those darn nickels!

Love token Jeff

my answer to original question above - a gold coin - no doubt about it! They are the rarest find in the field IMO.

It's a Gold coin converted into a love token! The obverse of the coin has been inscribed.

A friend of mine found a 20 cent piece a number of years ago. It was about 2-3 inches below a 1913 buffalo nickel. The two coins were obviously lost in exactly the same spot, but at different times. He brought it to a club meeting and entered it as a Seated quarter. He had never heard of a 20 cent piece. Has anyone else ever found one?
I have heard of a lot of people finding gold coins, but have never known anyone else who has found a 20 cent piece.

Wouldn't you just know it! I hit a couple of schools today and out of 8 clad coins two were nickels! S0....back to square one! ;D
