I'm a professional hit man, a distiller and bootlegger of fine white whiskey, a surfer and Greek God. I'm a legend in my own mind. Work is a dirty four letter word! I am retired with a disability and cash my welfare checks around the first week of every month. I was a Command Post Specialist in the USAF for four years, then a cop for a mid-size municipality for 21 1/2 years , retired and was rehired as the Code Enforcement Manager for that same city. Got injured in a fall and retired with a disability after ten years. Now I metal detect, shoot guns in competition and loaf around the house. I am an excellent cook and love to cook but hate to clean up after myself. Me and my wife of 37 years have a deal. I cook and she cleans up. Both of us eat well! Mostly I am a Grandpa to 5 sweet little girls whom I love dearly. Hope to have my first grandson soon. Well, I might as soon as the Doctor reads the next ultra sound. Keeping my fingers crossed because if no boy, my son is the last of the family line. Now I know how the dinosaurs went extinct! I love metal detecting but my wife says I can't find my butt with both hands and I tell her,"Oh yeah"? Snappy comebacks aren't my forte. M ::) nty

I'm an Environmental Inspector for the Arkansas Dept. of Environmental Quality. Mostly inspecting landfills. I cover eleven counties so I burn also of gas in my state vehicle. Get to see alot of great rural areas with lots of history.

I also have a small business designing septic system and making soil evaluations for subdivision developers.

The State job pay the mortgage, light bill, water bill, etc., and the perc test job pays for fun stuff ;D

I own a street sweeper company. The bigger municipal sized units, not the little truck mounted ones that run around and do shopping centers at night. We work with const. and paving type contractors. As such, I've got "in's" to hit oldtown urban demolition sites occasionally. ;D

farmer, horse trainer,logger,20yr underground miner, well driller,brawler,2 1/2 million mile heavyhaul trucker.dad to 5.got retirement chevron down center chest[tripple bypass]last march.now engaged in woodworking, machine shop, metaldetecting.building repro 1909 Brush package delivery truck.teaching 4, at present, grandkids how to fish, hunt, pee in the yard, use 'barn talk',live off the land, drive parents and teachers crazy[payback],and understand that 'Pappy'knows everything fun.kid growin older?YUP!difference tween men an boyz is price of toys!

Vince, A very interesting survey. I have read a good deal about NDEs. I have always been fascinated with them. Thanks for sharing the link.

As of 2 weeks ago..I'm helping run a good friends bait shop on Oneida lake..right now it's ice fishing season in NY,(it's very busy as long as we have ice ;) )we take anglers out on the lake via snow machine or 4 wheeler and hauler, put them on the fish, rent and sell shanty's,tackle, advise on where to catch fish(advise is free),lodging whatever they need we can accommodate.
We also have a virgin business taking off in the spring in which we will be maintaining forclosed homes, businesses, properties(land)for banks...removing anything left behind, mowing, hauling, winterizing etc.,anything we have to do to get them ready and presentable so the banks can put them back on the market for resale throughout New York state and possibly beyond(this job is going to be a MD'rs dream for sure)..you can bet your life i will have a detector with me in the truck everywhere we go :)

Work???? Whats work?? I'm a retired police sgt. (26 yesrs) and now retired from being retired. Just a regular pain in the a-- to the wife and that grants me the time to detect anytime I wish to venture outside. Gave up fishing at the shore as its much more fun to go detecting. I thought about going to work, after 15 seconds of thinking I realized they were bad thoughts and promised myself never to think about work ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol never good to think bad thoughts....wash those away....replace with good thoughts! Get out there and find some really cool goodies! :D :D

Commercial salmon troller on my boat in southeast Alaska...sea cucumber diver...shipwreck salvor... placer gold suction dredger...treasure hunter...carpenter...and right now, a professional bum in my girlfriends house on the beach in Fortaleza, Brasil. Trying to get her to leave this tropical paradise to live with me in Alaska for most of the year...but, it´s a tough sell.

lol I lived in Ketchikan for 4 years when I was young....the fishing and such is fantastic yet the warmth of Brazil would definitely have it's selling points.....sounds like it would be a real hard choice for her! ;)

Cyn...Ketchikan...the rain capital of the U.S. ...I live just northwest of there in Sitka.. not near as much rain..and you are soooo right about the fishing....still unspoiled...paradise of the north pacific.

my dad went to Sitka when he went to police academy but I was not ever there. Rain capitol is right...over 200 inches a year! but the fishing....oh the fishing!! :D totally spoils a person I tell ya! When you come back here and go fishing everything looks surprisingly like bait! lol Nice to meet you! Good luck getting your girlfriend up there with you....remind her it doesn't rain as much as Ketchikan! lol
