What to look for in penny rolls

Obviously anything older than a wheat but the are a bunch of errors out there also. These seem to be the most valueable

For Canada pennies Pre-1981 for copper value. King George the Fifth, King George Sixth and pre-1964 Canada Pennies.

I go through cents by hand like crazy. I look for everything you mentioned and wide AM's. 1998-2000

I look for 2012D penny dawg. That is the most rare penny in american history!!

all pennies 1982-1998 are made with leftover gold flakes from making the golden nickels in 2002 but all platinum half dollars were released in 1975 but were made in 2013
hope this helps
i like pie.

This is why this forum has gone to crap. Show some decorum and just answer the question! Don't give Treasurenet a bad name!

I used to, but then I found there were more than I thought in circulation. I only keep the REALLY nice looking ones. I don't think they will be worth much in the future, but you never know.

Seriously, grow up guys..... I've seen this happen to every newb thread for the last couple days. If you don't want to help just don't comment on the thread....there is no reason to make the person asking a legitimate question feel stupid. I get you don't wann give out your secrets or constantly answer the same questions over and over. You can always just move along to the next thread. A little playfully Relevant humor like hey keep your eye for a gold quarter eagle I heard those are easy to find. That's cool we all get that's a joke but just blowing up the thread with nonsense is childish.

Say what??

Wide Am's refer to a type of error where the letters AM in America on the reverse of the coin are different. I'm no expert on that I'm just started researching it today. Hope that helps a little.

They are error cents that were struck on proof dies instead of regular ones for circulation. The easiest way to tell is the A and M in America will be spread apart, take a pre 1992 coin to compare. If it is an error the coin will look like the america in the pre 1992 coin and if not the A and M will be really close or almost touching. Most common is 1998 and rarest is 1999. I have pulled 3 98's 3 00's and no 99's. The 99's in bad circulated condition are worth an easy $50 and MS go for $500+. The 98's and 00's go for way less though.

Oh, and those are the only error coins I go for at the moment. I got really lucky and pulled a brockage error cent though, but that was obvious. There are tons of other errors out there if you do some research.
