So I went out last week and went to a old park in our local area. Went after work (getting dark)and found a couple 40's wheat cents then this fork about 4 inches down among other clad and such.. I threw it in my bag and did not even think about it till I emptied my bag this morning. Mainly did not think too much about it since you find new and old stuff there. I thought it was a regular fork at he time since it was actually after dark when I found it. Well upon further inspection it is silver and engraved. 5-6-97 and initials and design on the front.

I search j. jorgenson 830 and can not find anything on it. I find j. JorgenSEN from norway though..lol Makes me think it is maybe 1897 not 1997

If you know anything about this let me know.. thanks

I found a Jan Jorgenson silverware from 1989 forward. This does look older than that, but who knows the dates on it would make sense if that is the case. No city was given. The stamp is what is making me think this is more modern. Older utensils would not have such a mechanical stamped mark like that.

Would be interesting to check your county records/newspaper for a marriage on that date in 1897 (I'm going by the style of engraving) initials are G & B, don't know if they represent one person's first and last, or two peoples' first or last names. With the date, you really have a huge clue though.

I would say 1897 as well. I did not find anything on J. Jorgenson but this explains the 830:

From Wikipedia:
Scandinavian silver has a millesimal fineness of 830. The Scandinavian silver alloy contains 83% pure silver and 17% copper or other metals.[SUP][6][/SUP]
