What should i do

That is very nice, all PayPal users in the USA are protected always. It easy to open a dispute and if a seller does not respond or does not insure tracking information,a buyer is refunded. So,the outcome is pointed out.
For example,in Russia, members can use PayPal,but can not withdraw funds from there. And there are no any other paying methods to be protected. At our treasuring forums if a buyer and a seller are from different cities, there is a way to ask a member with a big value on a forum,to share something like 5-10% with him, transfer a payment to him and after that,a seller remains a detector to this valued man for arranging a shipment.

I hope this has a good ending to it.

Besides filing a claim with PayPal. Make sure you look into filing a Mail Fraud Charge with the USPS. (Post Office.) You can do it over their site. That way if it happens again they can file a claim as well. The Postal Inspectors can hand off the case to Homeland Security if there is a hint of foreign involvement.

I had the same problem with someone in California. I bought a piece of equipment and never got it. He used ever excuse in the book. I filed a mail fraud claim with the USPS. Unfortunately I paid with a money order. (That's why I filed a Mail Fraud claim.)

Also I had my lawyer look into filing a claim against his car and home. (He lived in an apartment and leased his car.) If I lived in California, I would have filed a small claim suit.

I would say if there is going to be any kind of delay he should have mention it. 2 weeks is way out of bounds with no contact no matter what the reason. If not sent the time I am told and no response I don't hesitate to go to all legal channels. If they are just being slack then that will motivate them to do the right thing. His name should be mentioned and if he is honest he will respond. But rules are rules.

PM the name of this guy to me... I dont want it to happen to me next... I vote the name be told to all of TNET.

There is to be no names posted on open forums. I have told OP I am looking into it, member in question has been a long time member, he would not just take money and run....There is a reason he has not contacted buyer, just don't know what it is.

And if not? What if he never contacts you or the buyer? Just how long is one supposed to wait?

Personally, i'd like to know a little more info as to the communication before the sale myself. How did that go Petrie?

Im starting to get the feeling you dont want to buy from any sponsor on Tnet. This totally unaceptable, and shame on tnet for protecting folks like this.

I will reimburse Petrie's money myself. Petrie pm me your contact info for PayPal....

I know the seller, he has been a long time member and is trust worthy, he would not just take the money and skip. I also did an IP trace and see he is now military so that could explain it as well...

Casa, TN is not protecting anyone, I am handling it because I know there has to be a legitimate reason he hasn't been able to follow through.

Your comment attacking TN and me is uncalled for as well.

Well guys I waited it out and still zero contact with him! I kept my faith because treasure said he was a good guy and long time member! I gotta admit though I was worried!! Anyhow the box just came but still no response I just don't understand this was a long 2 1/2 weeks!! Thanks for everyone's input! And casca I see where your coming from but I don't think treasure or TNET was protecting him I think he was simply trying to help!! We all have to admit you don't here about this often on treasure net and it will not sway me one way or another on my next purchase!! However I will not be sending payments as gifts any longer unless I have phone numbers and addresses!! If you do send a gift payment thru PayPal be for warned there is absolutely zero you can do including if you send it to the wrong person!! That's crazy to me but its there policy! Anyhow have a great day

I wouldn't have been screwed, I know he is trustworthy. I ran a trace on his IPS last used, he is indeed in military now and overseas.

I also know that from location he is at that standard shipping takes a long time so unless it was priority shipping it can take up to a month to ship using standard shipping which can cost more than what you paid for items to begin with.

Well I wish you luck on your quest to get your money or item!!

Well 20 bucks for Charter membership is cheap for a crook that can rip you off for hundreds that's why I am no longer a Charter member here due to that fact! The way this forum was ran 3-4 years ago you could actually trust a charter member now any Tom Dick or Harry can be one for a small fee!!

Actually its nothing like that that crook if u didnt read is an Active military given u ur freedom & the items were shipped yes they came late how can u blame anyone honestly the guy WHO got called away for Active duty or the mail that was late cuz of forest fires u should get facts right befor a post like that im a chárter member & have sold on here & have gotten good reveiw cuz ill go out of my way to make people happy just like alot of other charters here just cuz ur a chárter u dont have to sell its also a,way of putting in & given back to a hobby that alot of good people can come together talk give tips etc that was a crappy thing to say dude

Well I stand corrected. Hats off to Treasure Hunter for going the extra mile here. Even though it was not needed, to actually offer a refund of a sponsor is more than I would expect from any site. I have seen more than one deal go wrong here, so my comments were based on that. Communication and time it takes to ship should have been in the item description. Not professional on the seller's part. Since no name was mentioned, I wont buy from any sponsor on Tnet. I will stick to who I normally deal with. Since we cant post names, I guess everyone reading this will never know who I had good transactions with. Anyone who paypals some one money is just asking for trouble. A postal money order is the best way to send someone you don't know money. For someone to claim there is no problems with sellers on here is a joke. Best look at the forums where folks buy brand new out of the box and the item needs sent back to the factory. Im glad Treasure cleared this up what he will allow, it was a shoddy transaction at best. I understand the restrictions place on military members overseas, and that's no excuse if he took the mans money.

What that shows me is that Treasure Hunter obviously knows and trusts the person with whom the OP done the transaction with. I believe this person (you can correct me if i'm wrong TH) is just a long time charter member selling a personally owned item/s, not an actual "sponsor". That being said, if you are on here selling as a "supporting vendor" or an "independent dealer" then customers should be able to discuss dealings they had with you, good or bad, shouldn't they? Isn't that the American way? You know, word of mouth, the world's best and cheapest advertising. That's how you build a business (or run one into the ground).

I'm just glad everything worked out alright for the OP.

Isn't this why the vendor forum exists? So customers can post regarding their transactions? (sponsors that is)

Glad this worked out ok! Hats off to Treasure Hunter for going above and beyond!!!!:icon_thumright::occasion14:
