Detector(s) used
Whites Coinshooter 2, Garrett GTA 1000 Ultra, Bounty Hunter Landstar, Bounty Hunter Lonestar
My Grampa bought me a detector in the early 70`s and I couldn`t wait to try it. I hunted our front yard, got a beep and commenced ta diggin, not caring how large the hole or where the dirt flew . About an hour and a half later I had unearthed a huge, rusty, gnarly chevy BUMPER!! I was very happy with my find but my parents did not share in my happinnes. I had to fill and grade the hole, repair the sod and rake the entire yard. I also got to cut the grass without an allowence for the entire summer! BUMMER! Who knew.......it coulda been a treasure chest full of GOLD! HH ALL----Bob ;D
p.s Luckly I was 12 at the time or it coulda been worse!

A yellow jacket nest for me. Still hurts to think about it...d2

I was hunting a freshly drained lake and got a huge signal and was curious to what it might be so I pushed some dirt around and found a motorcycle. ??? How did it get in the middle of a lake? It had to be put on a boat then dumped. My friend found a rusted 45 pistol a few days later. Im sure both had to do with a crime!

I got my first detector when I was about 10. One of my first chances to use it was at my grandparents farm. I promptly dug, and punctured the copper line running from the propane tank to the house. Needless to say, my grandfather wasn't pleased. :) Now everytime I get that strong half dollar reading that runs in a long line near a tank, I reflect on my first "treasure" find. :)
Jump forward now, 30 years to when I dug the studded collar on the neck of "Taco", the homeowners deceased cat. That didn't exactly go over well either. :)

Regards,
Jules

Dont laugh its not funny >:( a feminine product :-\ AA

Havent had any miss haps like those yet!! I hope none come either!! ;D

I found an old cast iron sink buried under a front lawn, and man, was it ever deep! My detector insisted that it was 50 cents! I decided after I had dug enough to identify what it was and that it was not a box containing cash and treasures, to rebury it, because it would have taken a quite a bit of dirt to fill that hole. Now I can say that I have found everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink :)

HI YOUALL:

Back in the early 80's I was hunting in a park in Kansas City Mo. I got a deep dime signal and cut a 6 inch plug. I set the plug off to the side and cked the hole and there was a Merc. lying in the bottom. I retrieved the coin and turned to pickup the plug and a eyeball was looking at me from the plug (kind of scared me for a second or two.) It was a beautiful glass eye.

That's about as unique as I've ever heard. Just out of shear curiosity, can I ask what park was it? I live in KC.

Lucky for me, the home owners daughter wasn't there to witness it. Glad you've got a laugh out of it. In retrospect, I sure have...... :)

i was diggin a hole once, after a ran my detector round a rock, i moved the rock and saw a little hole there ,, so i thinks hey could this be a good find, i got a good signal,, i went at it spade going like a train, i dug a snake out which was hiding in the hole, my sun tan emedeatly left me as i must have gone white, after the snake had slithered off i carried on to find a huge hunk of twisted metal.

Found this year on the beach under about 1/4 " of sand.....a pair of women's red thong underwear with $4 change and a hotel room key in them. ;D ;D ;D

Dig man! Dig!

That's like the story of the psychiarist that put a set of twin boys in a room fill with horse poop...

All the pessimistic twin could say is that the room was fill with horse crap...while the optomistic twin was digging like crazy...he said that with all of this horse poop there must be a pony in here somewhere.

I was working the soft sand at a beach some years back and found a full upper denture. It actually startled me at first because I could only see the two front teeth and a little bit of the gums. I didn't see anything directly above it that looked like a nose, so I drove my shovel into the sand next to it just to make sure. I still have it in my collection.

Oh! I dug up a metal beach shovel once at a depth of 15-18 inches. It was old, because it was heavy and well made. After all that digging though, I was peeved and threw it back in and reburied it. A year later I dig up that same damned shovel at about the same damned depth. I'm cussing myself out for it while heading for the nearest trash can to throw the thing away............ this time. DUH!
