How thick is the blade?

From here it looks like a heavily modified machete. Possibly a Corona. Looks like some lettering on the left side up near where the clip starts.
My first thought was a Martindale crocodile machete. But, those are usually marked well.

Get some 1000 grit or higher sand paper.
Use a sand block or something really flat and lightly sand the blade near the handle.
0000 steel wool will work but it can go down into marks and mess them up.
The sand paper only does the top flats so you can see what's possibly there.

The blade is thin. Not forged. I will use sandpaper and see. I didn't want to damage it.

That is a classic "Chuck Wagon" butcher knife. That is why there is no guard on it and the blade is thin.
