What is your weird ebay story for the week?

Last week I sold a briefcase for $51.00 - after the sale I went back to view my listing - under the "condition " part , it said this -
Item condition:
Pre-owned

“THE BRIEFCASE HAS SEVERAL SCRATCHES & SCUFF MARKS FROM USE &. UNDERNEATH THE HANDLE THERE IS A ”

I have no idea where the ampersand pound 38 came from ?
Then yesterday , I was checking out a Navy belt & buckle and the guy has the same & in his item condition .
here is a link to it - Looks Old Vintage Naval Officer Leather Belt Eagle Buckle Must S | eBay
so I guess it's not just me .

"&" is html code for "&"

You probably copy and pasted the info and its pasted the code and not the symbol

I recently sent out a still sealed classical album I sold. The guy was one state away and the shipping wasn't much so for extra packing I included a classical album on top and bottom of the still sealed one in an album mailer. I have so many albums and these weren't worth much but in great shape, so I thought what the hay and did it. He didn't leave feedback but sent me and email. " I didn't ask for extras" Oh well, was trying to be nice and thought positive feedback on this would be a no brainer.

That's funny NJMARTY, I did a similar thing and included a promo vinyl, that I got multiple free copies of, with an album someone purchased and got the same response. "I didn't order this, why did you send it to me?"

Doesn't pay to be nice.

I've thrown in a freebie or two myself over the years but it was always a positive experience. Some people are just anal retentive sob's.

Not a "this week" story, but in my most recent pile of eBay sales, someone tried to haggle with me over the price of a $3 virtual pet. An auction from which 100 percent of the proceeds were being donated to an animal charity. Cheap much?

I sent a digital voice recorder to a buyer's indicated Paypal address via Airborne Express.
A week or so later it came back... no such addressee.
I emailed them 3 times... a month later I get an email back... oh yeah, we moved from Michigan to Phoenix.
Sent it again via snail mail, received good feedback.
Figured they were just Ebay Junkies and had no clue what they had bought.

Since we are sharing old ebay stories:

I sold a manual to a guy, and shipped it.

His ebay shipping address was something like:

Joe Smith
PO Box 685
Ruraltown, AR

A few days later, I got the most hateful email that I've ever received from an ebay sale, even after selling on ebay since 1998.

"Why did you ship it to my PO Box?!?" the guy demanded to know. He added some things to the email that still make my ears burn.

I did get an apology when I pointed out that he had that listed the PO Box as his only address...and then he asked me to use his street address in the future.

Crazy people out there, I tell ya.

Had a guy lowball me with his "3 offers". I declined each one. Then I added him to my blocked bidders list.

sold a $600 camera lens for a client. buyer didn't pay immediately, waited 5 business days to send an invoice. he immediately replied to the invoice with "not able to pay, apologize for any inconvenience." not a big deal, since there is no particular deadline on the sale of this item and i could possibly get more the next time round. opened a cancel transaction request today and checked the buyer's account -- 100% positive feedback, but both positive ratings had notes along the lines of "buyer didn't pay, had to cancel transaction."

this isn't the first time this has happened -- what's with these guys? are they just hoping the seller messes up and sends the item before receiving cleared payment? it's usually newer accounts that attempt this tactic, and most have a batch of "wasn't able to pay" feedback.

In the past week I got a weird feedback. I bought a lot of items at the beginning of the month. I paid for it immediately. A week or so later, I started to wonder why I had not received the item yet. It was past the delivery date, so I checked and it said he hasn't shipped yet. I sent a message asking why he had my money AND my merchandise and the item wasn't shown as being shipped yet. He never replied. i escalated the case to ebay and finally got my money back without ever getting a response from the seller. I checked his feedback and some other people had also left negatives saying they never shipped the item. So, I left bad feedback, stating that they never communicated, never shipped, and we had to escalate the case to get refunded. He then promptly leaves me good feedback saying, "Thanks pal".

Thanks pal??! Ok, I can sense the sarcasm, but if you didn't want bad feedback, why in the heck did you ignore my messages, refuse to ship my item, and refuse to send a refund? Obviously you are aware of what's happening on your ebay account or you wouldn't have seen my negative feedback. Some people.

About a month ago I was trying to bid on a rare antique. I tried messaging the seller who had only one feedback and one other item currently for sale. Simple standard questions for a high value item. Their listing was suspicious and I was requesting more photos and information. On the last day of the auction I finally request contact info from ebay. Tried calling their phone number, not valid. Their address did also not match their residence and was a few states away. Sent another message stating I was intending to bid and win the item but you have not responded to my inquiries and if I win it would be under the conditions the item is authentic and if it is not it will be able to be returned immediately. Put in a high bid with 60 seconds to go, and was outbid at around 20 seconds. Submitted another bid and this time told I was blocked from bidding. Guess they were either to stupid to offer a simple message for a potential high four figure sale or they were a scammer. Some other things led me to believe it was very shady. About a week ago I noticed the other item they had listed had received good feedback and the buyer was very happy. Pissed me off at the time but if someone won't take 30 seconds to respond for an item of that value, good riddance.

On another note, I made the ebay "stories" section this week with my listing of bricks from the original construction of the White House. Got 2500+ views in 24 hours and 150 watchers

Wow. With the address being several states away and the phone number no good, only one feedback, and no return correspondence, I would have never placed a bid of any kind. All alerts had checkmarks by them.
