found on an old homestead dating back to the 1700's. It's was buried about 2' under ground by the old train station that is no lover there.

Hi; I believe it is an African Themed Medallion. That it is silver as well. It is in beautiful condition. It may very well be associated with the slave trade and is thus a home made job. I think this one is going to take some real experts to Id and Appraise. Best bet is to contact an Auction House ok. Great Find. Good Luck. PEACE:RONB

Hi; If you have found a Roman or Greek coin here in America then my vote will be "KING" OF ALL BANNERS. !!! The odds of that happening are incalculable. Especially in the fantastic condition it is in. The suspense is killing me.!!! PEACE:RONB

Could be a modern drop of an old coin.I have a Roman coin and if I gave to my grandkid and they lost it and it was found here in America that doesn't make it Banner worthy.Just makes it a modern drop.

I think the lettering is meant to be viewed vertically, and is probably Latin. Very cool piece.

It's a token depicting Baccus, I think he was the god of wine or just getting slopped up in general. Are you anywhere near New Orleans???

Thousands and thousands of ancient coins have been brought back to the US by tourists over the years. These things leaked or eroded out of ruins in huge quantities and were cheap to buy. My aunt went to the middle east in the late 1950s and brought me back a pouch of at least fifty ancient coins that she paid like two bucks for and they were all copper and all real. I was about ten or eleven at the time and by the time I was fifteen I had lost or traded all of them away. My cousins also got coins from her and they were all lost at playgrounds, parks etc. Finding ancient coins in the US isn't that uncommon for this reason, a buddy of mine found one in a school yard on Martha's Vineyard.

You'l need to get it checked out to see if it is real or a modern copy. I also saw similar coins available/for sale as jewelry.

Sicily, Naxos, Drachm, 430-420 BC

Obverse, bearded head of Dionysos to right, wearing a hair band ornamented with an ivy wreath, and with his relatively short hair hanging loose in curly locks. Reverse, NAXION. Nude and bearded Silenus squatting, facing, his right knee raised, his left on the ground, and his tail coming out to left, turning his head to the left towards the two-handled, stemless drinking cup he holds in his right hand, and holding an upright thyrsos with his left; to left, ivy branch.

Hi; When is the last time anyone Posted an ancient coin found here in the USA on this Forum EVER ??? I've been here for 5 years and I've never seen even one. I think the only ones who will be able to "definitely" ID this piece are either Auctioneers or Museum Curators. I await. PEACE:RONB

Considering we tend to get all worked up over coins less than 200 year old, of which millions were minted, I think recovering any BC coin, no matter how recent the drop is awesome. If in fact it's legit then BRAVO!!!
