What is this ring and what are the markings?

My mom gave me this ring she found a few months ago. It needs polishing, but was told by someone online that it might be a Claddagh ring and should do some research. The markings inside the ring reads "NVC" on one side and the number "10" on the other side. Any and all help is appreciated! Thanks.
