What is this? Disk with electrical contacts and crank handle??

What the heck is this? It appears to be a metal disk with rectangular copper contact tabs radiating toward the center. In the center there appears to be a flat circular type of contact (very rusty hard to see) that would make contact with each tab when the "handle" or crank was turned by hand or by some other electro/mechanical device. Thx.

Show me a music box with reeds. I could be wrong but I always thought reeds were blown by air: harmonica, pitch pipe, reed organ (bellows), accordian, concertina ...etc and the "plucker" type music boxes are different. The innards look like this- no reeds. That is why I guessed siren.

Great stuff mojjax. It says "crank operates fan which drives air over reeds"

Now that explains it very well because reeds are air operated, they are not plucked. Oildiver solved his own post (jack-in-the-box). Looking back credit goes to da Prof, DialM, Breezie and a combination as usual.

This solves a couple of other posts.
