OK I'm gonna have to bust you on this one!!! You better hang on to that piece because it enables you to time travel as well.
Between post #34 and post #36 you were miraculous able to go to the Beach comber 3 hrs and 45 after closing and 1 hr and 45 before they opened and talked to the owner [ who never heard of what your talking about] and posted the info LOL.
Now I don't blame anyone for wanting to be popular [no harm done] But if this had sold to one of my friends here on the treasure net, you bet I'd been the one to give them your home address.

Well, I was gonna' say "Book 'em Dano" but instead I'll say "whatch you talkin' 'bout Willis?" (or Dano in this case). He's on the East coast (as am I) and the time posted here on TN seems to be PST. It IS possible he went there when they opened. Now, I'm not taking sides, but we've gotta' take everything into account. :-\

So, that being said, I had researched Gil's other listings on eBay (sorry Gil, I was bored... snowed in ya' know) He'd mentioned in a previous post that he found it in the sand/soil that was brought in for his driveway. So now we have a picture of said driveway, via the eBay auction of his vehicle. It is infact a diggable surface, as seen here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyo...iewItemQQcategoryZ6442QQitemZ4611271623QQrdZ1 Now, I don't know how that may figure in, but there it is. GIL, in your initial post you'd said you didn't intend to sell it on eBay but rather get information through the site... that's a really bad idea to do, let alone state it on another site (here). That is a fundamental misunderstanding of what eBay is for, and they wouldn't like it. To all: sorry for the width of this post, it was that darn link that I wanted to include.

it's a 2 hour time difference from here don't you think i know that? 2 from 4 is 2 duh!! I'm not trying to bust anyones balls here.
But I felt someone had to... From the time he changed his story to the time he made his comeback just didn't fit normal time parameters...
And Nhbenz you show NH on your name but you say TN on your time slot, make up your mind bud, thats only 1 hr time diff, for east coast, where the hell are you?

If you guys want to test me go ahead I'm up for it anytime. I do reasearch, and I'm not the best but I do check my figures.
And if I'm wrong please correct me. I'm not a jerk I just need my info to be correct. Ok my wife says I'm a jerk!!! there you have me.
Lets just try our best to keep these forums on the straight up and narrow, for everyone else who reads them.

It is very hard to fool most of the Tresurenet regulars! I want to be nice, and I am keeping an open mind. We don't want to chase away members. I hate to say it but something is not right on this story.

I found this confederate civil war coin, from a closed down mint in georgia. Way up here in the north in wisconsin. i figure being about 1 mile from the mississppi river these confederate spies had landed and got shot down. The coin layed in the mud for something like 140 years. As time passed the coin ended up deeper in the dirt. If a construction crew had not shaved off about 8-10 inches, i might not of found it with my radio shack detector. Now what is so far fetched over someone elses find?

1843 is not a Civil War coin, and is not considered as Confederate (CSA) memorabilia.
Yes, your right it is not considered one, but that due to the fact i got the only one. Have not seen many of your posts lately are you sick? Get well soon. ;)

Dano, Peace. I'm in NH and I'm on TN (Treasure Net). I've noticed that the time on TN is 3 hours different than it is here. So post 34 was Feb 12 at 6:45pm, which is 9:45 here. (so, yes, they were probably closed) Post 36 was Feb 13 at 6:13am, which is 9:13 am here. I agree something seemed funny, thats why I was researching what else he'd sold on eBay. Good research both of you guys.
BEAUTIFUL gold coin FreeTwoDetect. That reinforces my theory that hard work is more important than having an expensive detector. Was any coinage minted by the Confederacy?
And true bryan.

The gold coin came from the Dahlonega, Ga mint. It is the site of the first gold rush in the US in the 1830s. The saying theres gold in them thar hills came from the Mayor of Dahloenga trying to keep the miners in Ga instead of them going to California. It is a Damn good coin lol

DJ_Quinn, I guess there is only one way to find out a verdict. Yes something appears to be off on this whole thing. As a newbie myself, I know that some TNers are sceptical of them and can hurt the feelings of a newbie, by making them feel like they are not trustworthy or honest in their statements, just because something appears to be too good to be true. I don't know if I would have responded back after all that judging of character. And not saying that to stab out at any of you, the story could happen, though the odds are slim. So having that said, playing the medium field, I ask the newbie to come forward and talk to us if anything has been found out about the item. That's what it was all about wasn't it? I'd love to know what has been found out. I invite him to take a look at my thread under the what is it catagory entitled "Is this silver? It lists various options on how to test the metal and find out what it may be. No response here may mean he was trying to pull something on us, or then again, maybe we scared him off. :-\

Hey Gil, I don't think you're item is fake. To me you're story sounds like you're just a newb at ebay, and not knowledgable of old items. I'm the same way bro. I had 2 1989 "Museum kept" motorcycles(pc800 and gb500) with less than 10 miles on both(that I was selling for an old lady) and I was clueless to what they were worth. One day I was selling them cheap. Then found out that they were worth more. After finding that out I did what much of you would do and raise the price HAHA. But that was a mistake because people knew I was a newb and that took away alot of my "credentials" and they thought the bikes I was selling probably wasn't worth much(but some people still thought the bikes were worth some $$) future advice: do you're own complete research first before trying to sell, and don't let other people that flame you get you down because you know you're item is not fake , because if you do that then the people that IS trying to "HELP" you wont be able too. know what I mean?
