Bidding is now over $100.00 and rising. Its not a fluke. Medium green is one of the hardest to get.

Who ever bought this must like blowing money.... Vintage -Probably meaning 1920s-1930s-1940s type of these bowls normally sell in the $30-$70 range. I see these at flea-markets,antique shops a-lot and would have no clue why "salad bowl" would bring in $160.00... Apparently someone out there really wanted one and had a hard time finding one (maybe not living in a state/city/county that is got lot of good antiques in it) and the person who wanted it was over-bidding O***U in the bid history. Now everyone who-ever see's this will automatically assume these bowls sell for $160.00!
Hut my friend, I have been following your replys for a while now and it often appears you make things up as you go along LOL and this doesnt help anything. Maybe its my imagination. FYI the medium green individual salad bowl circa 1959-69 is valued at $175 http://vintageamericanpottery.com/Vintage_Fiesta_Dessert_Bowls_For_Sale_Original_Antique_Old_Fiestaware.html

Here is it. Im marking this SOLVED. Vintage Fiesta Pottery Online Identification Gallery

I just got/read your pm. I'm not an expert in Fiesta but after I found and sold my first pieces, I bought a collectors book. Fiestaware is tricky if you don't know the colors and marks. Hut could very well be confused as to what he has actually seen as far as color/age and even the specific type of bowl. Besides scarcity in certain pieces, medium green is the favored color among collectors. that is why it is so high in price. The individual salad bowls were not produced until 1959. Yours is a hand stamped mark that was put on after the color was applied and before the final glaze was fired. You are right, the individual salad bowl only came in 4 colors. The list price in my book "Collectors Encyclopedia of Fiesta 8th edition" (1998), is $95-$105, so it has actually went up in value. Fiesta has become more popular in terms of collecting thanks to Martha Stewart in part. Finally, a book price that is lower than an actual sale price. It's usually the other way around. There are certain pieces that are not marked that are old and real Fiesta. So just because it isn't marked doesn't mean it's a repro. Nice find and I hope you have more to sell of that same color. The 6" dessert bowl in medium green is worth at least twice what the salad bowl is worth. Turquoise is good too.

No I only have one medium green piece I picked up at a yard sale a few years ago. Its too late to go back and ask for more. I had no idea the value.

I also picked up 2 light green plates one marked and 1 unmarked but I cant get $9 for both. Both have the kiln marks on the bottom so I guess they are both authentic.

I just got lucky with the bowl because I had no idea. I just bought it for a buck because I saw the Fiesta mark.

I actually think I saw the same one yesterday at a flea-market for $85. Same green, etc. I'm going back tomorrow and will take pictures of it. IF i can turn $85 into $165 then I will be hooked.

One of the biggest flea-markets in Virginia in Caroline County right off I-95 is got piles of these fiesta plates. These plates go for $30-$85 and I see them all the time (that is what the price guide says they are worth) the Medium green going for $85. Now you put that on E-Bay you may get $122-$130... I don't know but I'm going too try my own luck on buying a bundle of them and see what I can do. Good luck.

Okey Dokey. Your guess on price was pretty close but you know what I mean Hut. Im sure you had absolutely no idea what a 1960s medium green Fiesta salad bowl was. But neither did I. So no worry.

Dont forget it has to be medium green. I have 2 light green plates on eBay now but I cant get $6.99 for them both. Must be medium green, not light green and not forest green.

BTW the bid is up to $122 on the salad bowl with about an hour left. BTW my bowl has a chip on the rim or it would be worth more.

Myself I would never pay that much for a bowl. But yes technically you could profit. The salad bowl is 7-1/2 inch diameter.

Hut I think if it measures 7-1/2 inch diameter it will be medium green because the salad bowl was only made in 4 colors. Also look for scratches and nicks bring down the price.

I bought the bowl from an old black lady with a yard sale in her front yard in an almost ghetto-like neighborhood. I was just trying to help her out. I had no idea it was valuable. I saw the Fiesta mark and gave her a buck each for bowl and 2 plates. I wouldnt be surprised if she had some more.

Anyone know Fiestaware? What is so special about this green Fiesta salad bowl that sold for $160! Vintage Fiesta Medium Green Individual Salad Bowl Fiestaware | eBay

I cant post pics here anymore Grrrrrr

If the color of the bowl really is medium green, then it should command that price.

Medium green was only produced for a few short years, and that salad bowl is rare enough that I have never seen one.

Last year, I lucked into a full set of vintage Fiesta, and paid $129 for the whole lot. It was the nicest condition Fiesta that I've ever seen, and a single medium green dinner plate sold for $80 in the dead of summer.

I've been dealing in Fiesta for years, and as a word to the wise, please be careful.

At first glance, the pic you posted shows what may appear to be vintage, but just a shade off due to the camera or lighting, you could easily be looking at Shamrock green, Lemongrass green with a washed out glaze (defect from the factory), new turquoise, and Sea Mist green.

I always want to encourage you to make a buck whenever you can. I am a trader/picker/reseller too, but I've seen people get burned on Fiesta time and time again.

Plate size, the 'feel' and knowing the colors is an absolute key when dealing with new and vintage Fiesta. Once you know the colors, you'll be able to spot both vintage and Post-86 Fiesta from a mile away.

10-4 Biggy! I will let you know how I do! thanks for the great info on Fiesta pieces!
Good luck. The way I look at it, if I pay a buck I really cant lose. It appears I will be lucky to get a buck for the light green lol. Click "see other items"

Funny you should mention that story. I once bought a Radioactive Red coffee urn from a yard sale of a black gal that was clearing out her mom's estate. I about wrecked the car when I saw it, and nearly flat spotted the tires because I hit the brakes so hard. I paid a whopping $8 for it, about 7 years ago.

Generally speaking, when someone has Fiesta at a yard sale, they probably have more of it. I once bought a collection from an elderly woman, and when I asked if she had any more pieces, she said yes, but nearly refused to sell them because they held last night's left overs, and were sitting in the fridge! She changed her mind after I started making cash offers!!! True story!!!

Thanks clovis. I will not pay more than a buck in the ghetto. I took the pics last year with my old camera but didnt list it. I think the key here is the 7-1/2 diameter only came in 4 colors. I guarantee everything I sell but the lead buyer seems to be very up on Fiesta as this seems to be all he buys.

Found this the lines are important. http://www.happyheidi.com/antiques/Fiesta_Gallery/individualsalad.shtml
VINTAGE FIESTA DINNERWARE INDIVIDUAL SALAD BOWL

One of the latest arrivals to the Fiesta dinner line, the individual salad bowl wasn't modeled until 1959, the first new item to be added since 1940. A very similar sized bowl was originally designed for the line, but never put into production, instead the inside rings were removed and it was sold with the Harlequin line as a salad bowl.
The Fiesta Individual Salad bowl was only made in Medium Green (shown here), Red, Turquoise and Yellow. I have had a hard time finding yellow ones.
Medium Green Individual Salad shown with Red Kitchen Kraft Spoon . These bowls are often confused with the more common Harlequin Individual Salad Bowls, which have no interior rings.
Dimensions:
7 1/2" wide from edge to edge x 2 1/2" tall, 4" across base.
Marks:
In the mold mark or Inkstamp "GENUINE fiesta H-L-Co USA"
Years of production:
1959 - 1969 (4 colors only - late piece)

:laughing7: IMO the ghetto is the last frontier for us yard sale guys.

I gotta another Stanley plane to list by the midnight deadline on free listings. Check out my Stanley planes. I purchased about 40 of them for under 5 bucks each!

My "Be careful" post was aimed at Hut...I don't want to see him get burned.
