I might have been a piece for an applique on a larger wood piece to complete a scene.Or could have been part of Intarsia that could explain why the head looks incomplete.Intarsia is a wood art piece for those that wondered.Putting different species of wood together to form a picture of different colors without paint.

It looks like the beak is incomplete that is where I was thinking another piece would complete it.
