Just for info. purposes rings are marked usually 10k, 14k, 18k. If marked .410 then indicates 10K, .585 then 14K, .750 then 18K. GE(Gold Electroplate), HGE (Heavy Gold Electroplate), 1/20 12k then 1/20 of the weight of ring or jewelry is gold. If say 14KP the P stands for Plumb which indicates the gold is at least 14K but less than 16K which is usually dental gold. I don't know if a non-gold ring stamped w/the markings are illegal but at the very least unethical. Hope this info. helps. Also rings marked .925 means Sterling Silver. HH you all! ;D

Sneaky manufactures have been using 14kp,but plated not real plumb, which is a very old designation. The better the gold, the better the gems and your a much happier person too.Tons a au 2 u 2-John PS you can tell by weighing also ,in and out of water,on unmarked pieces,do a forum search on Is it Real in the nugget forum I posted it last?
