Well each year I look forward to heading out to DIV for several reasons. I have made many good friends through the years that I enjoy seeing each trip. I have also been lucky enough to make many great finds. This trip didn't disappoint on the fun or the finds. This was a back to back hunt that allowed me to dig for seven straight days in some civil war winter quarters. These sites are tough to hunt due to the highly mineralized ground and TONS of iron in the ground but I took my GPX 4800 and went to town. I made may good finds but my favorites have to be the Confederate block A, the Bugle mouth piece and the 8 sided inkwell.

I think we are in violent agreement. As a matter of fact, the best finds are probably mostly found with a probe, shovel, and pinpointer. All of the buttons, camp lead, and melted glass, except the dropped bullet which started it all in the attached pic were found either visually or with a pinpointer in a single hole/pit. The fired bullets/fragments, and grommets/carved lead were found with my Deus and ATX, respectively.
