Western montana gold hounds ?

I'm great full for any help I can get this forum has been amazing for people that are full of amazing advice

What places are you thinking of checking out. I'm kinda torn between two places. I want to go some where that doesn't have a bunch of snow and ice.

Some where around stevi I'm hoping

That's funny I'm torn between three mile and east of missoula. I know that place east of zoo town should be dry, three mile on the other hand has lots of shade and will more than likely be snow covered. I have only driven up 3 mile and saw some spots that would be good to hit with the hand dredge. I want to check it out this summer though.

I haven't heard much about 3 mile but maybe I will check it out

There are tailings all over, but the first 2-3 miles are private. You more that welcome to join me up bearmouth this sat if your interested.

Oh awesome thanks for the invite if the wife doesn't wanna go I will hit U up but I think she's pretty excited to try her new pan out

I appreciate that if not this weekend we should get out soon for a day

I think she has to stay close this weekend for work and all

The best advise I can give you is when you first start out looking for gold is don't break you back moving a ton of dirt to get a little gold. Instead cherry pick spots. Hit the spots that people can't get to like cracks and old steam beds. You would be surprised how much gold you can find by snipping.

You get into bed rock cracks that haven't been touched and that's when you can find pickers and nuggets.
If you have questions if a place or area is any good shoot it by me it may save you some gas money. I spent all last summer checking places out.

If you want to find some color and if Florence isn't to far for you and your wife check out 8 mile creek. When you get up there you will see where people are digging. I have found gold every time I have gone up there.

Awesome maybe I will try that thanks again for all help

Bring some bear spray guys. It's been a very warm winter and the bears are out. And good luck finding the gold.

I was just gonna say I always take my lead based bear spray I have seen more mountain lions than bear in the past few yrs

So is there anywhere up 8 mile to run a small stream sluice or would it be easier to just pan U think?
