I've just moved to Beverly, Ma. My 9 year old granddaughter wanted to detect our back yard... using a vlf children's detector I kind of let her lead...she was very excited to find nails...then she recovered a 43 mercury dime! At first I was skeptical but she has better eyesight than me...bingo! I think she's going to be my new metal detecting partner.... I've only found silver in coinstars so she beat me to it. :)

Nice hunting with a good find! I lived in Danvers in 1989 and found some silver dimes around some of the older Elementary schools, you might want to try them. Good luck!

Thank you Scruggs,
I've been eyeing an old school just down the street...still organizing and setting up our living space...but would like to get out there before the cold weather hits...

I’m sure there is nothing like introducing your granddaughter to a wonderful hobby! Congratulations

Beverly is an old area, I think you’ll be surprised what pops up. Let me know if you want to hit some old spots in Massachusetts, I have a couple big permissions and there’s a few good beaches you by Beverly
Hi Joe-Dirt,

Love it. Children haven't learned when not to dig! 🤣👍

Great Post..
Welcome to your new home and Congratulations to both of you..
I would get a nice frame/case for her special recovery

I preserved it in a square white paper plastic window coin holder ...coin date, time, place ... :)
Very Nice
Thank You again for sharing this beautiful post..
It’s special moments that the two of you will always remember

Thanks Billb,
We will be doing more detecting each time the grandkids are over...

I think I will let her lead!

Well done on your new home.
A big congrats on the special memory of having your Grand Daughter getting her first silver.
Also getting it before Gandpa-now that's a teasing memory for many fond years to came.
