At the second stop on my weekly coin run, I asked for bags off the coin machine. They didn't have any. But as I was standing at the teller's window I noticed 4 nickels that had a nice war nickel look to them. I purchased all 4 from the teller. Upon seeing that they all were truly War nickels, I asked if they came from a customer or a roll. When she said they came from a roll, I asked if she had any more rolls from that box. She looked and said yep $72 worth.

Needless to say I purchased the rest of the box. When I got home, here's what I saw staring at me on the end of the rolls:

So with the 4 loose ones and 6 on the ends of the rolls...I am wondering how many more will I find inside? I'll have to find out later tonight.

Since my record is 4 in a box, I already know this box will set my personal record (as it has already produced 10), but how high will it go.. 11? 25? 50? 100? 200?

Not including what I assume was the two rolls that the teller had in her tray, now I can only wonder what was in the other 12 rolls.

Outstanding GMan! I bet you've completed some war nickel date rolls now huh?

man thats alot of war nickels!! try to find more rolls from the same person! it was probaly a robber that rolled those coins up. those war nickels are hot i tell you!! :D ;D ;) :)

I didn't expect my first 100 silver box to be of nickels... lol ;D

Awesome score!
I had a feeling 100 would be the number LOL!
Must have come from a collection?

Congrats!

Now that I went through all my old posts and recreated my spreadsheet of finds (or at least 99% of them and probably all the key ones) since my hard drive crashed a couple weeks ago. I can now say that the 100 war nickels pushed me over 1,000 silver coins for the year. ;D

Almost to my goal of 1200 for the year (average of 100 a month).

Nice! :o did the box have an inspection or pack date?

Probably, but I don't know since I only saw loose rolls. They had already thrown out the box.

OH WOW!!!

And to think I was excited about finding ONE while searching my first box of nickels today. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Gman I noticed that there were several you listed as 43P did you check any of those for an overdate? coinflation.com lists a 1943/2 P as $30-1200. Might be worth looking!

Checked every one. Always do.

looks like some dumb bunny cashed in good ole old gramppa's coin "stash" --- quick go back there and get any dime ,quarters and halves---they have "in stock" --you may have hit a silver "mother lode"---Ivan

Ivan they were machine rolled so the "stash" could have been broken up when turned in, bagged and sent to the armored car service at different times, waited to be rolled longer or shorter than the nickles, and when it did make it into a box it may have not only ended up at another bank but maybe even in another state.

Now if it were hand rolled coin I'd asked to buy every roll that I could.
