Thank you Carl for the most interesting information. IN appreciate having the specificsā¦

How long did you test it before it went bad?I have an F-Pulse pin-pointer I bought in 2018. Problem with it, is that when it's around VLF machines, it fails sometimes to engage, you have to press the start button some 5 times to get it detecting.
It worked just fine until I used it in Late November and in December 2024, then it started acting up, whether that was due to the -1 to +3 C weather or whether it is due to being around a GMT and a Legend which are VLF machines, I can't say. In the past, I used it around the GMT only and used it to hunt for silver in Cobalt, Ontario. When it does work it finds the target really quickly unless the target is stuck in the side of the hole, it's not a tip only machine, so one can't tell the target is in the wall or at the bottom of the hole, it's very sensitive. How long did you test it before it went bad?
Might be the cold causing the mechanical button to malfunction. Can't imagine another detector would cause it not to power on.It worked just fine until I used it in Late November and in December 2024, then it started acting up, whether that was due to the -1 to +3 C weather or whether it is due to being around a GMT and a Legend which are VLF machines, I can't say.
Thanks, though, Pulse induction (PI) has interference with very low frequency (VLF) machines, as a matter of fact, PI pin-pointers are not allowed in one metal detecting club I know of but donāt belong to. I will try to find and post that club name for confirmation.Might be the cold causing the mechanical button to malfunction. Can't imagine another detector would cause it not to power on.
Donāt get me wrong, I still love the machine, I digress, but I wish it was tip detection only. Thanks, though, Pulse induction (PI) has interference with very low frequency (VLF) machines, as a matter of fact, PI pin-pointers are not allowed in one metal detecting club I know of but donāt belong to. Originally a nickel at 3.25", quarter at 2.75". I think it's still the same. I've tested over 100 units in the factory and there was little deviation from this.Carl- Do you know what the design target was for detection range and sensitivity? Such as quarter at 5-6 inches? Or other? Was there a significant variation in sensitivity between production unitsā¦? Thanks, Keith
Any pinpointer has the potential to interfere with any detector (it's a statistical thing) although, yes, PI can be worse. That's why the F-Pulse has a frequency shift feature. Otherwise, I've found that moving the coil away by 3-4 feet works well. Thanks, though, Pulse induction (PI) has interference with very low frequency (VLF) machines, as a matter of fact, PI pin-pointers are not allowed in one metal detecting club I know of but donāt belong to.
