VR Crown pad lock cover

Found last week in ne North Carolina at a train stop that was one of the earliest in that area. Found vr crown locks online, but not this one. Do any of the lock gurus know an approximate age for this piece?

Crown and v says Victoria, but does that make sense for the location?

Edit: not sure how easily to read but crown “vr” “patent”.

Agreed. It will be hard to narrow down the date w/o having the whole lock and/or a catalog (advertisement). I think the logic smokeythecat used + this webpage gets you pretty close.
