I believe your find could be older than you think, it is very similar to a Bronze age (1300-1100 BC) coiled ring found in the Poulton Hoard. I have posted a picture of the hoard, check out the ring in the middle, on the left.

Either way fantastic find. :notworthy:

Ok,

As I understand it, :icon_scratch: you can't get any stills from the item anymore cause its not in your possession any longer. :BangHead: because you had to report it to the proper authority. :dontknow: May I suggest you take a nice still or two from the video clip you have and save it as a JPG or the right file, and then post it.... Make sure you upload the file to the original post and not a reply. Awesome find, we would all love to see you on the banner !!! :notworthy:

Keep @ it and HH !! :laughing7:

Hello Mister Tell, GREAT find and BANNER for sure. HH yelnif

Congrats on the great old finds you get over there! My oldest so far is a 1736 1/2 real and don't hope to find anything older in the usa. Good luck and please show us the cleaned coins soon. HH.....

thanks for the picture , i can not view youtube videos so have no idea of the history or the find, where i think videos are great i wish the story had been printed also and pictures so all could see and hear how it was found...but the picture Jeff captured ( which i am sure does not do it justice ) it looks awesome, great find ...:thumbsup:

FANTASTIC!

Congrats!:hello2::hello2::hello2:

Gotta LOVE this hobby!

Awesome find! It is great that you have such a great Antiquities System in place there and you get paid by the State the value of the piece plus 10% is awesome! Now, if we coild just get a similar system inacted here in the U.S. and especially so, in Florida, would be great. These Historical and important finds need to be shared with the public and not confiscated from the finder with threats of or actual prosecution and no means of compensation when the items are confiscated. Although it is not necessary, I am still placing my Banner vote. Oh well, it won't let me vote probably because it is already a Banner find.

Thank you so much for banner my finding.
New pic of the gold.

Hey Tromso!! Gorgeous Find!! I'm certain you must be thrilled!! Could you only imagine the stories they could tell!! CONGRATULATIONS on a Banner Find!! GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!

What an exciting find. I don't think I've ever seen viking coins, not even in a museum setting. I hope you enjoy your newly found treasures. It just makes me wonder what the people were doing when they had the coins/lost the coins. Very awesome.

Really nice find maybe there is more nearby..

dane gold * money paid by the English to the Vikings to not be raided by them --most of it was silver even though it was called "dane gold" --gold was rarer than silver as it still is.
The English (Saxons at the time) did not pay the Vikings in Gold, it was paid in silver coins...danegeld or geld or gafol This Gold piece is almost certainly older.
