Vietnam Vet Denied Second Amendment Right

Rebel......I don't agree that Crit Recovery feels "EMPOWERED" by the gun as much as he feels he is much less a helpless VICTIM with one. Should the vet that is the subject of this thread ever need a gun, I have a few he can choose from. I would also trust him more with my back than I would the highest ranked law enforcement person in this country.

WHAT word, would YOU use...? TRUST, after TRAUMA... is a BIGGIE! YOU had/have TRAUMA?
Were YOU "hurt" by "Law Enforcement"?

There may be a vet who should not have a weapon. I don,t know one myself in that position, nor do i work with them to know of any confirmed as such by qualified person(s).
But similar to Dano suggesting a cop work with out condition of his normal piece, vets looking at not being allowed one when its the preferred choice through training and experience , and familiar for chaotic and dangerous situations ,would be unsettling. heck it bothers civilians who have not lived depending on it.

"Would be unsettling" is KEY here... REAL or IMAGINED!

Reb i had written real or imagined, did not like it.(right after situations).

Want to know that having a restriction would not be based on being a vet. Conditions resulting from being one are going to vary.
No more unsettling than you or i being denied what keeps us secure.

And, that's the point; what DOES keep you SECURE...? "Feeling of having CONTROL" or loss, thereof is a BIGGIE. Another one is EXPECTATIONS/UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS; right now, I am seeing a lot of COGNITIVE DISSONANCE.

I like oxygen when i breathe. Insecure without.
Just saying, lets not treat all the same. No blanket policy. Prove status requiring not only an issue with arms but the underlying condition and coping skills. Am familiar with cognitive factors after trauma. Still don,t do well with numbers.(yes, could before.) Had no problems regarding weapons. they could not have changed my condition, though my flashbacks and pain non battle related may be a factor. Have met some jumpy vets but never worried about their judgment regarding deadly force.

Relevent: This is a lot of hype with no facts. It is extremely hard to take a vet's ability to own a gun away. I have treated thousands of vets and don't know one person this has happened to. Several who probably shouldn't...but that was just my opinion. Don't fall for the propaganda.

Best,
Crisp

When someone is trying to kick my front or back door in I want to feel empowered with my 12 gage loaded with buck shot, same with my 9 mm and hollow points if I am in my car and confronted....

It is the point of selfdefense...Deal with it....

Hey BCH mate. I thought you'd left the site. Good to see you're still around and hope you're well. I should come back to the "what is it" forum. Safer and no political stuff there! lol. :)

Don't forget tissues Packer :P
I try not to talk politics. I was in the swamp for 5 months working with Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission with no internet or phone reception. But I had a gun.

Crispin, when i detect in front of the legion i get visitors. The last a vet who helps at the veterans facility i donate to.(i,m not big on donating).
He is facing having to go there to live and its not agreeable. No one speaks well who has been there.
My unanswered question is why passed owners wheel chairs go to basement to be unused,a small issue considering all that needs to be addressed.
Many vets living a normal, what ever that is, life. Far from doctors and v.a.. i would call it hype sending me a letter if i were unstable. What result could be expected?.if one is in that condition either its ignored or creates agitation.

Better of the three for the task at hand!

We have large gators, bears and meat eating panthers in addition to the constant danger from 2 legged mammals at night and I would not have felt safe without my gun.

Big C, but as some suggest, you can always call 911 or join a Neighborhood watch group instead of being armed and defending yourself and your family.....

Don't put me in that group. I've always said people in rural and wild areas should be well armed. Not sure about those boys down in the Louisiana swamps though...they're just weird! lol.

I once saw a video of two Florida wildlife wardens lasso a large escaped gator from one of those boats with the big fans. Gator yanked his head back and the warden didn't let go...splash. His mate had a gun.....didn't help! Was nasty.

Swamp hunters are alright. unless you are on the wrong end of CHOOTEM!

PURE MOUNTAIN AIR is GREAT! AND! EVERY "case" IS SITUATION-SPECIFIC!

TH: You forgot the pepper spray and samurai sword. That will pretty much keep you covered in the swamp. ;)

Why not just train the gators as personal protection. I'd say its beats rjc's parrot.
