Found this today while hunting old glass along a river. I've never seen one like it.

some history of glass buttons, guessing the buttons have been popular since that time
i google img searched ( black glass buttons),but didnt see a star, search just led to some history
Queen Victoria popularized black glass buttons in 1861 when she went into mourning at the death of her husband, Prince Albert.

Hey Larry,
That button looks to have been well tumbled in it's river voyages. I think it was a faceted button to begin, and that the details have been worn away.
